89' RS Carbed LT1 and built/stalled auto - can i hit 12's?
Little backround, I have a 500rwhp 04 M6 QSM GTO. I know this camaro wont hold a candle to that car, but i wanted to see what i could do on a $2,000 budget.
89' Camaro Info
Non T top car, all interior but seats and dash is gone, all electricall and A/C, e vap etc is all gone. Only wiring is the bare nessesitys for a carbed sbc.
1 3/4 stainless longtube headers and full 2.5 magnaflow catback
custom catless Y pipe
650 doube pumper carb and ported/port matched torker 2
Engine is a rebuilt SBC with powdered rods and arp bolts, stock dish pistons
LT1 heads that have been modified for a Gen 1 sbc, light port work and port matching
running ruffly 10:1-1 and then added 1.6 rockers
Trans is a built 700r4 w/ 3000 stall
Rear gears are 3:73 and a posi
Suspension has new front struts and rear shocks. The rest is stock.
Estimating 2,900lbs weight without me.
What trap do you think i can net, and at what mph? All passes will be on a 10" wide street tire. Thanks for looking guys! Interested to hear your thoughts!!

Re: 89' RS Carbed LT1 and built/stalled auto - can i hit 12's?
I would think 12s are easily attainable - Especially being 3100ish lbs with driver - Brother in laws stock 96 LT1 with, Exhaust, Filter, and 4.10's with drag radials went 13.1 @ 104.. Assume that car weighed 3650 with driver - Some port work and long as your compession is near the factory 10.5 it should be very easy.
You did not mention cam though? But assuming an LT1 type cam - I think it will trap 105ish if tuned right at the least.. 105 with traction and optimized can get you 12.7s - I think the car will bve capable of more.

Shoot! It has a mediumly large custom grind cam and then 1.6 rockers. Ran real healthy in my 70' SS Nova. Roughly 235/239 .540 / .560.

Not to hijack your thread or brag, but you guys sure do make me feel good. Berlinetta #1 runs 12's at 5800' elevation, 8000' DA. Ran an 11.95 in Topeka with 1200' DA. All factory GM internals, the usual "hot rod" external stuff. Stock PCM tune except for emissions/torque management delete, tire size & gear ratio changes. 3420 pounds going down the track.
And, I drive it to work...
