27x10x15 slicks on a 15x8 wheel?

right now i have a set of weld draglites on my 91 RS. they are 15x8's. i have some slicks that are 27x10x15. would these fit on the 15x8 wheels?

I don't see why not. I run 275/60/15's on my (jegs) draglites, which equates to roughly a 28x11x15. They don't rub or anything and tuck nicely under the lip of the fender with none of that ballooned out look, however my wheels have 4.5" backspacing so you may wanna check that.

It would be pushing the limits although it could work. Rim width should always be within an inch of tread width. For an 8" rim, a tire with 7-9" of tread fits best.

more like a 28x9 or 28x10 slick.
and yes, they will work fine on an 8" rim.

Don't forget, a DOT tire width is measured across the section. A slick is measured across the tread. The rim width should be close to the tread width.

A 275/60R15 tires has roughly 8.90" of tread even though it has an 11" section width. Still falls into that 7-9" range for an 8" rim.

Re: 27x10x15 slicks on a 15x8 wheel?

A 10" slick on an 8" rim will pull the sidewalls in more than recommended. Slicks need sidewall to wrinkle. You would actually be better off with a 9" wide slick which are a lot more common because that's the maximum width for Stock Eliminator racers.

Re: 27x10x15 slicks on a 15x8 wheel?

like i told u in ur other thread i ran a 28x10.5 for a short time on a 15x8 draglite i ran them because my 28x9 hoosiers were wore the hell out , eventually i got a 10inch wide rim

iirc anything over 12 ish psi resulted in only the center 6-8 inches of the tread making contact

pretty sure i ran them at 10/11 psi

heres what they looked like on the 8inch rim

Re: 27x10x15 slicks on a 15x8 wheel?

dont waste your time with those man. the reason they measure 12" uninflated is because they are sooooooooooooooooo stiff they hold their shape. also, the compound they are made of is intended for very high temps. drag slicks are like a wet noodle in comparison, and when they are not mounted, the beads of the tire tend to to towards one another. so unmounted, the tire may only measure 8" or something like that.
