That's a really good fix for that trans whoops. Whoever thought of that was a genius. That being said, if it still leaks I'm going to feel really stupid.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
yes it is, and i already have plenty of travel to make shift at even 7500, but honestly i don't need near the clutch disengagement as a typical synchro'd box would. having a positive pedal stop does a few things, but the big thing is i don't have to stretch out my leg fully to get to the bottom of the travel. with the way i clutch, my leg is looking for a positive stop before it retracts. stopping mid stroke and returning isn't really an option when you're shifting this fast, lol.

i guess it's all in what you're used to or trained to do with the muscle memory. i grew up power shifting our anglia that was a mechanical z-bar setup. after some time at the stick i just got used to stabbing the clutch just far enough to make it all happen. the super t-10 saw a lot of abuse! how much are you lifting on the throttle when you shift?

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
Yea, I managed to wear a hole in the carpet under and next to the clutch pedal, I wish it had a stop, even with the stock assembly it doesn't need that much travel. I'd bet that i'm well over 50% throttle on all my shifts, but I've never shot video inside that car or data logged this one at the track. OTOH, I've raced a T56 car on and off since '97 so I have a little practice (on the order of something like 500 passes)

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
yesterday sucked. 4 terrible passes. 1st was spin city, 2nd was a 1-2-1 shift (which thankfully didn't hurt anything, other than a poly trans mount that looks a little worse for wear. all valvetrain held together thankfully). 3rd was down 6 mph. i found the timing map in the MSD was not my timing map?! put my timing map back in it and it seemed to pick back up on the 4th pass, but i gated the shifter and popped the snap ring off the shift rail for the 5th/6th shift fork (was going for 4th, ended up kind of in 6th sort of). ended my day early (easy win for the faster guy who caught me by the 1000' mark). very thankful i got to go racing though, and as they say, a bad day racing is better than a good day at work. it's a true sentiment, lol!
trans was out last night after the track, and back in tonight. just waiting on fluid now. i heart my forward facing headers.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
The transmission is tested and good to go. I built a nifty bracket with a microswitch that is engaged with the shifter in 1st gear only. This is wired to the step retard function of the MSD box and will pull timing, hopefully this will help in my quest for traction.
additionally, i swapped out the front springs for some softer ones. the existing springs were a 10" 175# spring and i replaced them with a 12" 125# spring. the front end is nice and loose now. I believe that with these things I will finally get back to proper weight transfer and hope to see the times drop.

You will like the lighter springs . Did the same with mine, went from a 12'' 175 to a
14 "150 with my big block set up and went from night to day
and was still able to keep the ride height I wanted.
Good luck Racing Friday. Was hoping to get mine back out this weekend. Our 1/8 mile track is flooded and the 1/4 mile has a special event. : (

I'm happy to report that it looks like what i'm doing is working! I pulled 4* of timing in first gear and finally got the car to want to stick to the ground. Unfortunately it was at a racetrack that i don't normally go to, so the racetrack is now an unknown variable and i am anxious to get back to one of the tracks that i frequent more often.
I made 6 passes. All 6 60'd either a 1.47 or a 1.48. I found in my replay footage that i'm now dragging the motor down to about 4200-4500 (5K 2-step) where before i was just blowing the tires off. Of 6 passes, 4 were solid full passes, of which the car ran 2-6.67's, a 6.69 and a 6.70 (was an 1/8 mile track). I will try upping the launch rpm again and see how much i can get to stick now. The DA was about 2000'. The MPH on the 4 full passes were 103.8-104.3. i now need to make a conscious effort to get the 2-step off the steering wheel and on the pedal as one of the passes i accidently held the button, lol!

That is great news. Sounds like the car is responding to the changes like you thought it would.
It will be interesting to see what it does at you normal track after you fine tune it.
Will you have a chance to take it out with the holiday weekend?

Awesome job!! Hopefully you can get that thing to hook, that mph should be good for some 6.5's

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
I will not be going out this weekend. gonna do some family time i believe. We are slated to go down to Sumerduck Racway in Sumerduck VA on July 11th. This is another small 1/8 mile track i've never been to. but with as repeatable as the car was, i'm pretty happy. Hoping to have it back out to Capitol (one of my local tracks) probably in late July or early August.

Good luck Matt. Very nice vids always fun to watch. What kind of video recorder do you use?

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
I use a few different things. The helmet cam is a Replay XD. The other interior views i have were done with a Flip. We also have a couple cell phones for outside views as well as an additional Replay XD. My cousin chucky is in charge of most if the video equipment and I can't thank him enough for buying the stuff we use.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
i made 3 passes before the rain came last night. that was good enough. i feel like this racetrack will simply not hold a 2-step clutch dump no matter what i do. i pulled 6* and still blitzed the tires hard. the last pass i put all but 2* back in during 1st gear, and did a hard slip. results were the best pass in "normal" weather. i don't get it, lol.
the video shows that even with rebound set at 18/18 (as stiff as it'll get) and compression at 16/18, the shocks still cannot control the hit

Very nice matt. I love your car. I have got to get mine to take off as straight as urs mine wants to come up. What are you trying to get your 60' to to get 9's?

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
well, i got my new 27.5x4.5-15 front runners on the car thursday. last night i got home and put it on the trailer getting ready for the race today.
i really like the way it looks.
then, i load the car and back it into the driveway. i hear a *pop* and the trailer shook a little. look in the mirror to find this:
uh....
so yeah. pulled the car back off, backed the trailer into the garage and had the axle out in 20 mins. Thankfully tractor supply has axles on the shelf.
back together
headed to the track in about an hour.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
I made 6 passes. first pass off the trailer i ran a 10.38 @ 132. car spun pretty hard, and went a 1.53 60'. i decided to up the air pressure in the tires to 13.5 and dropped launch rpm to 4700 from 5000. next pass the car went 1.47 and ran a 10.36 @ 135. i'm not convinced the MPH was good on that pass though cause i made 4 more passes, all in the 132 range.
DA was 2300' give or take all day. i realized a couple of things yesterday. 1, the car finally wants to wheelie a little. unfortunately that means the car redlights *easier*. 4 of 6 passes were redlights. the second thing is that i think part of my harsh clutch engagement has to do with air gap. i think i have too much (admittedly, i've never measured, but mainly cause i have no way to measure it easily) and the pressure plate is getting too large of a running start at the discs. solution? adjustable pedal stop i tried to manipulate this in round one (yeah, not a good place to try) and the car pulled the wheels, then bogged BAD at 4700 rpm 2-step. i think this may be a key part of getting this to work right. stay tuned for some mid-season fab in the pedal area, lol.
anyway, i bought back in after redlighting 1st round. i dialed down to a 10.35 as the sun went down. went something stupid like .189 green trying to stay green and the car ran a 10.351....but gave up way too much at the hit and couldn't get around him. oh well. i learned more, got more seat time, drove the car off the trailer when i got home and back into the garage. i'm happy, lol.
here's a compilation video that my wife took. only 3 passes, cause the other 3 were from the other lane, and she couldn't get a good shot of that.
oh, who says stick shift cars can't bracket race? i ran a 10.38, 10.36, 10.36, 10.39 (short shifted 1-2 accidently), and a 10.35, lol. the 5th run i didn't even log cause the bog was so bad that the data was worthless. car ran a 10.7x on that pass.

Great videos Matt. You can definitely hammer those gears. Dam consistent too.
I am in same boat with pulling the wheels just enough to screw up my lights. It seems if I hit it where I want I red light, or I wind up guessing and giving to much away. Cost me first place Saturday night. Going to try leaving off a different chip on the two step.

Great design, very easy to read too.
Matt are they all one piece or did you have to lay the background first and then the color?
