That might have been rough, but it made for good reading while I was in Italy and my car was in Missouri.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
I got a little progress done this past weekend. my folks came into town to spend some time with us and our daughter. My dad helped me a bit getting some stuff hammered out. i'm very happy with how things are turning out.
and the source of great debate over the weekend on facebook, lol. some say it's no longer a street car. the presence of tags and valid insurance beg to differ i'll drive it to cruise ins, which is all i do with it on the street anyway. in the event i ever make it to drag week, this will do that with zero problems. haterz gon hate, potaters gon potate

i think a street car is whatever you can stand to drive on the street. i've seen some pretty ridiculous "street cars".
things are getting pretty real in that engine bay!

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
The only down side of doing that is the rules for "true street" type classes forbid it (exhaust has to exit behind the firewall). But, if your not planning in running those type of events... Go for it!!

yes, got some of these little guys:

no intentions on running any "true street" events that would have this rule in place.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
made some progress this evening. number 1 and 3 primaries are all tacked together now, and i am happy to report that the driver's side header is now roughed in. i can see a few tweaks that i want to do, but overall they are turning out pretty much exactly as i've envisioned.
that number 1 primary was a booger-bear, but i got the length i needed out of it

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
how are you bending the pipe or did you buy a some "j bends" ?
#60
Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
i bought two of these kits and am cutting them up. looks like it's working out well, and is really a good bit cheaper than buying a bunch of j-bends.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
the opposition from some of my "friends" on facebook has gotten to a comical level. totally polarizing going to the forward swept headers, lol. personally, i don't care what everyone thinks at this point. this setup is going to make working on the car so incredibly easy.
anyway, the water pump drive from g-spot sensors showed up yesterady
and here is where i sit on the headers. still need to do #2 and #4 primaries and i should be good.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
Headers look great! How do you plan to get the exhaust gases out of the engine bay? I read your thread on the bullet asking about bull horns is that what you are going with?
#66
Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
gawd no, lol. it may go out the fender, it may tuck under the fender, but i will NOT have bullhorns, lol!
made some adjustments to number 6 primary last night to get more strut tower clearance. now i gotta do number 5 to match
i will try to get that last primary fitted this evening.

i think your doing a great job with that car. ive been following your build on here and yellowbullet. how far are you from cecil county dragway. id love to see your car in person one day. i usually try to hit cecil late in the season(its almost a 4 hr ride each way for me)

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
i'm an hour and a half from there, and intend to hit it up a bit this season once i get done. thanks for the kind words man
i managed to finish tacking the headers tonight. i'm pretty happy overall. if i end up with a little extra time and i may redo that number 3 primary to match the number 4, which i feel like turned out amazing. the second header always goes better, eh?
i'm going to swap the boots/terminals out for 90* ones, but these ALMOST clear the oe wires without issue, lol!
and all done, both on the car
hoping next installment will include some stuff about the rearend/brakes

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
well, i got about an hour last night to do some work, and i pulled the 9". i want to do all my set up on the bench so i'm not laying on the ground. also want to repaint it. hope to have this part of this project wrapped up by the weekend.
and, a preview of easily the biggest controversial topic i've ever done with my car, lol! haters can kiss my foot, i think this is awesome.

Thanks man, means a lot coming from guys like you
welded the fill plug on, got the brake line tabs welded on, and made a proper mount for the chassis to axle hose (it was just dancing in space before, lol!)
will try to build the hardlines tonight after work. prepping to be able to paint it tomorrow hopefully. Also, the mid plate finally showed up mid-plate and blocksaver plate in one!

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
this weekend was BUSY. i cleaned the rearend up and painted it, pulled the tank to put a proper vent in it, installed the mid plate, and decided to take more weight out i probably just made my life way more complicated as now i have to spend some time fabbing up the radiator support with necessary mounts and tabs for all the stuff to to attach to. I actually have a little time to kill though, cause turns out the pinion support i have will NOT work with the 35 spline pinion thankfully, i found a NOS Strange N1922 for $98 shipped on ebay, so i scooped it up before someone else did. since the rear gears aren't going in yet, i'm stalled on the axle reassembly :eyes: . anyway, here's the pictures from this weekend:
hammertone black turned out FANTASTIC
the mid plate needs to be bent to go with the firewall on the driver's side. i didn't have a brake to bend it with, so i improvised
seems to work well!
and all wrapped up
and here's the car as it sits. radiator support to materialize by mid week
my list is diminishing, but still a long ways to go.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
I see you still running that s10 manual box...I went to rp...and saved like 51lbs....I just fabed a mount from my k member and did new steering shaft...I spent about $185 total with rack and steering joints and some pipeing.
also I mod my spindles to be used with 1/2 rod end...after all the steering feels way better than before and turning radius is almost the same...glad I did it.

nossbc, get rid of that "orange can of death" on there! too much money invested to run a fram filter.
when i got my f-i-l to swap the race cars over to motorcraft filters from fram they went from 30lbs of oil pressure at idle to 50lbs. mucho bueno!

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
lol, me too!
i got word from my buddy that is doing the finish welding on the headers that his race this weekend got canceled, so he is looking to go out next weekend for testing. thusly, he is coming down this weekend to do the welding instead of next weekend. that's all fine and good, except as of yesterday he had no space to work on the headers in my shop (cause it was such a mess) and the engine was not in the car. so out in the garage i went to install the mock up engine and do some cleaning, lol! had a new supervisor watching today. hope she liked what she saw.

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
Milestone achieved! Headers are welded, and I got the longitudinal limiter built today. Mock up and fabrication is nearing completion. I'm only missing a few tabs on the radiator support for hood retention, to mount the headlight bar, and the exhaust of course. I'm hoping to blow this all back apart soon to paint and start final assembly. Huge thanks to Jeff Moyer for coming down to TIG these up

Re: 2015 SpeedMu11et updates
yeah, they're just enough to take the bark out of it. only a "muffler" by definition, lol!
mock up nearing completion. probably 1 more full days worth of fab, then it all comes apart for cleaning, coating, and painting, then final assembly.
also, some unexpected goodies will be rolling in as well. i will update as that unfolds
