Guys running 4th gen rear ends, what is the widest tire and rim/backspace combo you guys are getting away with?

I wanna run a 24-25" tire.

I ran a 295/55/15 7.25” bs 15x10 rim

305/35/19 on a c6 vette 19x10 79mm offset plus 5/8 spacer. Thats about as big as you can get in stock wells with hammering

Thats 27.4-28” tall tires tho

That would be way too tall for my gear ratio though. I've got a 3.42 rear end, so I'm figuring around 6,000 RPM in 1:1 I wanna be shooting for between 125-130mph. So I figure 24-25" tire.

So you ran 7.25" bs 10" rim on a 4th gen rear? Hrmm.

Even a 26" tire would have me crossing the finish line I think way under max RPM.

Hrmm..

Re: slicks / drag radial with with 4th gen rear

Idk any small diameter sizes. Stock is 25.7 I believe

The 15x10 is a race star 92. 7.25 bs. With the 275/60 radial pro drag tire its even with the fender lip and has a 1/2” clearance on the lower front corner of the well and several inches from inner frame rail

You can do a 255/50/16 on a stocker wheel. Or 245/50/15, or maybe something in 275/50/15 which would be 26 and live with the rpm disadvantage. For the street i would take some sidewall height

Small tire is a step backwards for traction. Less rubber on the ground to give traction.

Tallest tire possible (typically 28" with no inner fender modifications. 8-10" of tread is fine.

A 10" slick has 10" of tire making contact with the ground. A 10" DOT tire has a little less than 8" of tire making contact with the ground.

Well, I'd probably go 28" if I was building the car for the track, but I started building it as a street car and changed direction. I don't want to pull the rear end apart, it's got like 25 miles on near gears/locker/etc.

However, I guess if I go crazy with the car next season and do end up tossing a bar in it, to make it 10.0 legal I'd have to do aftermarket axles and retention anyway, so maybe re-address the tire size and gear ratio then.

Maybe for now just some sticky radials on stock rims for this year and see if the car warrants further modification over the winter..
