Thinking about gettin nitrous, and have a cam question
Hey everybody, i have i 85 camaro with a 350 4 bolt main that was recently rebuilt( has about 7000 miles on it) I am getting a cam for it, but a mild one because its a everyday car, any suggestions?. I'm pretty sure i want to get nitrous after that, i was going to go with the new nos sniper system adjustable from 50 - 150 shots, and just keep it on 50 hp because its a daily driver car, what are your thoughts on these ideas

Ya don't give much info on the rest of your motor, converter, gear combo but any cam with
a wide lobe seperation more ex duration than intake, installed 5 to 7 degs advanced
will work well with nitrous. Here's two that
are proven for a mild 350. If you don't have much gear, say 2.73 or so and a low stall
converter use a Crane HMV 272 specs are
272/284 216/228 112 .454/.480.
If you've got 3.73 and a 2000 or more stall
use a Crane HMV 278, specs are 278/290 222/234 114 .467/.494 Chech the Crane Cams catalog for part# Both these cams are easy to live with in a daily driver.

Comp Cams Extreme energy cams work very well.
when selected for your application. The xe268H-10 is of equal size to the Crane hmv 278 I suggested. The difference is the lobe seperation and how it will be installed.
Nitrous motors usually benefit with wider lobe seperation (less overlap) and earlier exhaust opening (blowdown) than a n/a motor.
It has 3 things going for it over this comp cams. It fits the valve timing criterium.
It's off the shelf and it's cheaper to buy.
In either case I would use a 4.10 gear with with either cam with a 5 speed. Remember, 5th is over drive and will still give you a nice cruise rpm on the hiway.
All the different cam companies have exellent products for your car. Just have to select the one that suits your needs the best. Done right, you should end up with a real performer.
