Nitrous my friend. You basically just answered the question of; What can I use nitrous on my car for?
Re: cheap power???
but having to go more in depth to the engine for support to the seals like you should do with having nitrous and properly maintaining the structure of your engine, an in depth build for seals would cost just about as much as a small nitrous kit alone

Okay, then replace your heads with some stock vortecs and get a vortec TBI intake manifold. 30-40 instant always available ponies. I think lol.

Your heads on that TBI motor are what is mostly killing you, along with the 400cfm carb.

Re: cheap power???
Unfortunately, power doesn't come cheap. Personally, I'd rather build the motor to put out more power than go with nitrous. I've always seen nitrous as an easy way to blow up a motor. Start checking tech articles on this site or other f-body sites and see what others have done and what their results were.

Or you can go the bolt on route, find some headers, work your HEI a bit, advance your timing, open up your airfilter housing with an aftermarket, get some underdrive pullys, an a/c delete pulley for weight loss, a beefier cam, you might be getting close.
