Need help with performance and ecu
Hi everybody, ive searched around on google and the forum for an answer but i cant seem to find one tailoring my needs
I have a stock l98 350 tpi and soon i plan to increase my horsepower. I plan on upgrading the cam, heads, and intake.
The question i have is that when i upgrade those components do i have to have my ecu tuned? By who? Or how can i do it myself? Or will i be better off just converting it to a carb?
Thanks in advance

Re: Need help with performance and ecu
there are so many answers to this I'm positive that you didn't spend much time looking.
Short version, a stock engine will gain from ECM tuning, so if you start changing components of course you can gain from tuning. I'm sure there are people out there tuning, I haven't paid attention to who. Yes, you can tune the ecm yourself, and what and how depends on you (I've done earlier MAF setups, later ones and converted them over to SD, I've also run holden code in my '165 converting it to SD, I didn't feel like dealing with all that on my current setup and my MAF died so I just converted over to Megasquirt).
Converting over to carb almost never makes sense anymore. There are parts to make the same or better power in every case with EFI and done right midrange/transients will always be better.
Not sure what any of this has to do with "Power Adders"
