Inexpensive add-ons??

anyone know of any inexpensive add-ons or power boosters? i'm on a somewhat tight budget right now and want to add some power (however small it may be). is there anything under $100 that could aid in my rs? already did the flat base open element air cleaner. anything else at all?? 89 305 w/ tbi. thanks

Go to the Tech article section here and print out the ones on the GM HEI and the Rochester QJet, if you are carbed.

These two really woke up my 305, for cheap too!

gut your catalytic converter

I would have to advise you against "gutting" your cat. This was done by a previous owner to my car, and as soon as I found out it was done it was replaced with a hi-flow unit. After I replaced this part, I noticed a world of difference in the way the car drove...for the better. You are looking for cheap mods for more power, not to make your car slower. just my .02

Will taking the AIR pump system out cause an emissions failure? I heard that it was just for warmup because the car runs rich then, and the extra O2 helps balance it out.

If you don't mind messing around with stuff on your car, you can do what I did, and that's cut some holes in your air filter housing box. Cut a few holes in it, enough so that it doesn't collapse, and that seems to help air flow to the filter. Hope this helps, good luck!

notice what he said:
is there anything under $100 that could aid in my rs?
and gutting your catalytic converter shouldnt slow your car down, unless it was clogged and wasnt actually gutted.

I used to have a 91 Camaro RS w/ a 305 TBI.
The two best mods I ever did to that car were to install a K&N open element air filter and the Dynomax cat back exhaust. Woke that pig right up. You'll notice these mods immediately!!
