new Accel DFI 7.0 with Cal-Map 2000

Anybody on the board running the new Accel DFI 7.0 with the Cal-Map 2000 software?
How much better is this system over the old 6.32 version?
Where's the cheapest place/site to order the new 7.0 version?
Thanks,
SC

Call Rich at CruzinPerformance (that is the website, I think) HE is nice and they have great prices. They are Accel licensed installers, too, so they know their stuff.

I'll give him a call.

Super, can you put the prices and availability on this post?

super chevy 10-25-2000 04:33 PM

Well, I talked to Rich at Cruzin Performance and my local Accel EMIC facility here in Texas. They are both currently beta-testing the new 7.0 version with Cal-Map 2000. According to Rich, the 7.0 will come in at around $1500. Both shops say the new 7.0 version is a MAJOR improvement over the previous Accel DFI, with ease of use and tunability for all engine parameters vastly enhanced
No firm release date as of yet.

R.O.B.,
It doesn't. The DFI and Calmap are the computer and software used to control whatever fuel injection you have, whether it is TPI, TBI, or MiniRam. It's used to replace the factory computer.

GMI fast, please explain advantages of using a DFI setup verses stock computer. is it just a matter of ease of tuning & ajustability or ?

TunedPort350 10-30-2000 04:51 PM

I was told by an Accel tech. that the new Calmap 2000 isn't compatable with the version 6.XX DFI hardware and that the only way to upgrade is to replace the ECU.......

So could use this system to be able to better fine tune my car, plus convert it from MAF to speed density?

the whole idea with any aftermarket computer system whether it be DFI, SpeedPro, Haltech, Motec, LT1 Edit, etc... is that YOU program the computer. You do the timing and fuel curves. tell the computer when to turn the fans on and stuff like that. there are pros and cons. the pros are that you adjust via a laptop whenever you do a mod and dont need a new chip and change change fuel and timing for weather and track conditions. the cons are that most of these systems are hard to tune and most likely you need a professional to tune it first and then learn to play with it.
-Also, just to let those know who are interested, The new DFI Gen 7.0 is already out. You just have to find people selling it. I talk to Bill at Speedway a lot and he has already tuned a car that had it on it. He told me about a week ago that it has been available for about 2 weeks. Give him a call and ask him where, he might know.
