Everyone with an L98 with the LT4 HOT cam please step in...

How has it worked? What performance gains did it give you? What other mods did you have already when you purchased and installed the cam? Thanks

Well, I can't exactly tell you what gains I've seen, because I've only put 50 miles on my car since I just put the new engine in. So it'll be a while before I know how it works out in the upper RPM's. But through the mid 3's it's great, I'll let you know more when I do.

I considered the LT4 Hot cam, but I went with this Comp cam - HR269 p/n08-502-8. It's similar to the Hot cam, spec's:
.050 218/224
.200 139/145
lift .495/.503 w/1.5's .528/.536 w/1.6's

The primary difference on the Hot cam is duration @.200 - .132/.135. I felt .200 was about where the heads really started to work, so the better duration there was key to my decision.

I replaced an LT4 production cam and the Comp made a big difference, plus I think it will still be a good choice when I upgrade the heads/induction. It makes much more torque and pulls hard until it runs out of air. Nice lopey idle too.

There was no comparison in craftsmanship between the Comp(billet) and LT4 production (welded) cams - if the Hot cam is welded like the production cam, IMO this alone would be enough reason to pay the ~$75 difference.

Soon to come: LT4 HOT Cam, Air Flow Research 190cc or 195cc Heads, 2800 RPM Stall Converter and SLP 3.70 Rear End Gears.

Not many people use it in our cars because its a high RPM cam, and wouldn't work optimally with a TPI setup.

The LT4 HOT cam will give you gains, but there are aftermarket cams that will get the job done better.
