Crate engines and Florida emissions Hey guys...I have a friend who is thinking of taking out the stock 305 and replacing with more cubes like a 350. Here's the catch...he's thinking of moving to Florida. Are there any 350 crates or buildups that would allow him to retain "sniffer" legality? That is assuming that Florida has mandatory emissions tests. Guess I should have asked that first. What about the GM 385hp or the ZZ4? Good to go as long as he retains the emissions control equipment? I'm the middleman here so I don't know the exact details on his stock setup except '85 Camaro with Quadrajet carbed 305. |
We got rid of emissions here a couple years ago. |
only place i believe that has emissions in florida is down south.. i think like dade county or maybe up around tampa way... |
Florida's a great place to live.. :D No emissions, no state income tax, no value-based registration fees, etc. |
I appreciate the info guys. I'm sure my Camaro buddy will also be greatful for the news :hail: :lala:  |
Jza, what is registration based on? I'm moving down there in the near future and curious. |
It's just a flat rate IIRC. Something like $120 the first time and $35 a year to renew. |
no emissions here |
no value-based registration fees |
No testing in down here, I live in Broward and i know Miami Dade dont test either |
$100 first time registration fee on top of the ~$35 per year. When I did mine, I paid for the next year as well, which allowed me to prorate my first year, otherwise full price. No emissions around here (Walton, Okaloosa counties) |
