Modern Day Muscle thinks they are sneaky!

Just thought all of you might like to know about ModernDayMuscle.com and their business practices. I recently ordered a NOS GM part from Modern Day Musucle and when I got the part they had cut off the GM part number! Now I realize they are just protecting their business but if I got the part from GM or Classic Industries I would have gotten the part number. I thought their prices were really good so I don’t know why it is necessary to make it so I can’t compare prices or search for a part myself AFTER I HAVE PAID FOR IT! I no longer will do any business with Modern Day Muscle as I find their practices rude and inconsiderate.

could it be they snipped it off so they know to reorder?
the guy i deal with GM parts does that, sorta an old school thing maybe, or just a way he remembers to order

i've seen other places do that too

the guy i deal with asks if i need the #'s

Sorry about the title. I had to change the name from perfomance to muscle. I was at work and obviously didn't remember the name correctly.

Jim85IROC 03-22-2006 09:56 AM

odd. I've bought a few things from them and my products have been completely untouched.

It's because it was a discontinued piece. Someone doesn't want the number out because they know anyone can find these pieces in a GM Dealer Loacator.

Finding a part number isn't particularly difficult. Many members here have the Camaro Parts and Illustration Cat where all part numbers can be found--it's very helpful and highly recommended.

Hi, this is Perry from www.moderndaymuscle.com. I want to clear up this misunderstanding. The reason part numbers are removed is so the people in our warehouse pull the correct part for your order as our system uses different part numbers than the GM part numbers(in the future it will become evident why we do this and will benefit the F-Body community as a whole). We will soon start using seperate labels with our part number on the packages much like Classic Industries and others do. Trust that we are not trying to hide anything(most part numbers are embossed on the part or can easily be had at any GM dealer). As far as trying to hide pricing, please feel free to compare our pricing to the final pricing of any supplier(even gmpartsdirect) and you will find that we have the better pricing(we keep our overhead as low as possible and don't inflate profit margins). We have been in business for over 10 years and have had thousands of pleased customers. I do not think that the removeal of a part number(which is also on the part itself) should be considered a sneaky practice, if you feel it is, we apologize, please feel free to email us anytime at questions@moderndaymuscle.com and we will address any concerns. Thanks for taking the time to read this message, we look foreward to helping everyone in the future.

PerryPam,

Thanks for clearing things up. In the future it might be good to let customers know such things as they can be confusing. Also, the number on the part is not always the updated or current part number. There are often part number revisions.

That's some good customer service! I think its awesome when companies take time out of running thier businesses to come up here and address feedback. I will def. check your company out next time I need a part.

I have to say i've always had exceptional service from this company, shipping parts into the UK can be hit and miss with delivery time but ModernDayMuscle/Perrypam have always shipped quickly and have never got an order wrong. I've always found their prices very reasonable and a great resource for some of those hard to find items, my car has certainly benefited from them.

they have a ton of parts i need...yay for me:P

CamaroMike 04-13-2006 10:22 AM

All the above comments are great but it still does not change the fact that I did not get a part # on a paid for item! A part # that is hard to find and technically I have the right to own.

rabrand 04-13-2006 06:09 PM

Wow you found a good deal on part you want and got what you wanted and you are worried about a part number? Lucky they didnt just send you the part in a plain wrapper, you would have probably had a heart attack.

CamaroMike 04-13-2006 07:27 PM

Part #'s help restorers. Like me. If a good deal is truly a good deal then why hide anything?

Lo-tec 04-13-2006 08:11 PM

NOS doesn't mean discontinued. It means you could go to your local dealer and possibly buy the same part for around the same price without having to pay shipping. I purchased a bunch of parts for a chevelle I had a few years ago from some resto-place, and they came in brand new bar-coded GM boxes with a part # on them, and they were by no means discontinued.

Caveat Emptor

If you really want the part# for what you bought, PM me and I will get it for you.
