Classic Industries Skyrocketed Prices-->Not a Customer Anymore

I had to buy the driver side window rail weatherstripping for my 87 Iroc. It used to be $140 for the pair 2 years ago now it's $140 for each side. They charged me $25 to ship it and a mandatory $5 insurance charge. So i paid $165 for a damn piece of rubber...

are you guys talking about the window sweeps? If so i bought a set of NOS pair for alot less then that. Im planing on buying fuel lines from them. If i could find a better deal i will shop another website.

Guys...try to find NOS parts on ebay whenever you can. Never settle for aftermarket copies of parts because youll be paying more in the long run.

Heres the thing, before coming here and crying about paying for it. Let me ask you this.

Did it come well packaged? Was it a good fit? Does it seal properly? If so then why are you crying? I would understand paying for something and then having the purchase be less quality then stock or just total poop.

Suck it up, otherwise find another ride that will suit your budget.

that was totally uncalled for. he's talking about a 100% price increase in 2 years on the same item. It's not like they did the research to develop a new product and it's expensive to recoup cost. I agree with the OP that CI is a dirty company, and I avoid them at all costs

Thank you 58Mark, i just don't understand why such an inflation so fast. I bought the window rail that seals the top on the window and roof because i have a hardtop. The exact same set of IROC floor mats i wanted to buy that used to be $79.99 are now $129.99. I should've shopped around more for my window rail but its a live and learn

Classic Industries actually called me after seeing this thread and explained that the part was not aftermarket or repo, but is a direct part made at General Motors thus the price being higher and even helped me look up floor mats. Very impressed with the customer service, but can anyone help me with removing a thread? still new to this forum

Try going to Thread Tools at the top of your thread. If that doesn't allow you to delete, ask the forum moderator.

i call BS on this... how would they know who you are with your screen name.. and more importantly, i highly doubt they are scanning the webs trying to find their name.

so its a direct GM part, are they then trying to say that all the other parts they sell are not GM parts? Because thats what they advertise..

and so.. if they "saw this thread" that means they are looking at it now.. if so.. Hey classic, stop ripping people off on shipping and fire your customer service jerk who thinks everyone is stupid..

:welcome:

Re: Classic Industries Skyrocketed Prices-->Not a Customer Anymore

I'm kind of thinking Classic saying licensed parts are genuine GM. Maybe licensed parts are technically genuine GM, but they're not new factory or NOS parts.

But I too have noticed the crazy increases in restoration parts (repro, NOS, fake, etc.). There's money to be made (and lost depending on your perspective) with those old muscle cars and everyone is trying to get their piece of the pie.....they want a deluxe apartment in the sky......

Classic is always e-mailing me a 20% discount coupon. So for a $100 item that's now $200, I'm paying 1.6% of the old price.

Their not NOS,they are GM Restoration Parts. The GM Restoration Parts emblem is a registered trademark of GM and used under licensed by Classic Industries.I have never had a problem with Classic,as a matter of fact the majority of the parts that I couldn't get from a dealer came from Classic.I agree, some of their prices are high, but that's what it cost to maintain original quality. You see what it's going to cost you before you order,if it's to expensive don't buy it,shop around.

The item in question is item number G6654, an original GM replacement part. A GM replacement part is a part manufactured by GM and sold through the GM dealerships.

Attachment 373270

A similar item is also available as a licensed GM reproduction part at a much lower price. The reproduction part is item # WS508.

Attachment 373271

So, in this specific case, Classic Industries has given the consumer the choice to buy the OE part or the reproduction. Some people prefer the GM and are willing to pay more for the GM part. Some prefer the reproductions. To each his own. The choice is yours. But it is important to understand that generally, it is GM that sets the price of the GM part sold through their dealer network. :driving:

They pay General Motors a fee to use their logo on their "OER" parts, even the rubber logo floormats have the GM licensed trademark. They are NOT genuine GM made products however, they are simply "GM authorized" OER parts.

I agree with you guys, their prices have skyrocketed and half the time the OER parts are made of inferior materials or dont fit exactly as original.

I try and buy NOS parts online whenever I can. Some of the rubber was actually still available at the local dealership for less than Classic industries wanted.
