Big Brake Upgrade Just put together my long awaited C4-HD 13", FSLI-4 front brakes and found they hit the 1988 IROCZ wheels. Let me be clear, I did not buy the brakes from BBU. I simply decided to ask someone in the business for ideas. Long story short, Scott took the time - over several days - to help me determine that the width of the FSLI-4 is too wide to fit my 1988 16" wheels without a wheel spacer. A spacer that would push the tire out past the fender which I did not want. Instead of selling me something I didn't need, Scott told me what I needed to resolve the problem. He then suggested the narrower, Wilwood BNSLI-6 caliper to keep wheel offset in check. He did not try to sell those to me either. They fit perfectly by the way. Amazing customer service and a great guy. |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade Great feedback!! Scott is a top shelf guy, fantastic to deal with and to just shoot the breeze with. |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade Not surprised to hear that. Also have nothing but positive things to say about BBU/Scott.Was a great help & bought some great products from him. |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade I also have nothing but good things to say about Scott and BBU. Got my 4 piston Brembos from him and I couldn't be happier. A+ |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade Scott is a great guy to work with. |

Re: Big Brake Upgrade It's hard to get a picture that clearly shows it but, there's .15" clearance. Wilwood recommends a minimum of .080". https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...d3cea222fe.jpg |

Re: Big Brake Upgrade Yikes. Is that adequate, with rim flex and all? |

Yikes. Is that adequate, with rim flex and all? So, a .100" slip-on spacer will be used. |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade Good to know. Thanks. |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade His customer service is great. That is why I purchased my CTSV brakes from him. |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade I was very very impressed and thankful for Scott who has helped me a LOT over the past week with understanding/explaining how to configure my existing EdMiller flynbye rear C4 12" disc conversion brackets to be used on a moser 12 bolt rear that I am having built for me. Even though I asked him questions about a competitors product, Scott replied quickly, thoroughly, and in a language that made sense to me. We exchanged several emails back and forth and he was incredibly helpful during it all. Top notch ! |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade Scott is a total class guy, I recommend his business to everyone. I love my kit from him, he was great to deal with, even just chatting as car guys. |
Re: Big Brake Upgrade Another success story here, too. I felt like I was communicating with a friend. Scott takes your project personally, to make sure everything will be right. I'd read all of the great comments about him/BBU throughout the years, which is why I contacted him for my upgrade, so I shouldn't have been surprised by his excellent service, but I didn't expect the experience to be as great as it was... and still is. My front upgrade turned-out exactly as I had envisioned it. The rear, well, we're still working-on, something new, not earth-shattering, just new, so I'm not sure I'm at liberty to say yet. But we're almost finished, so it should be available soon. So like everyone keeps saying, if anyone is thinking about a big brake upgrade, contact Scott. You'll be glad you did. |

Re: Big Brake Upgrade I'm glad I held off and didn't do the LS1 brake upgrade. I'm hoping with my new 17" replicas from Hawks I can fit a bigger caliper/rotor in them vs the stock 16's. |
