Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Just thought I would show you guys an intake I finally got my hands on that I have been trying to find for 3-4 years now. I paid $500 for the intake itself. I am going to send it to Lloyd Elliot so that he can port it to match the Assault Racing heads he ported for me. I found the fuel rail itself new from Indimar via Michigan Motorsports for $180 and it is a returnless style. Will be adding a Corvette LS1 fuel filter with the built-in regulator. It will be going on the 0411 PCM 24x ignition system equipped L31 350 Vortec in my 1997 Express van. Will get to see what kind of power it can make. The cam is relatively small but the heads flow 274/183 @ .500" and 291/193 cfm @ .600". Combined with my Comp custom grind cam with the 1.7 rockers gives 0.578" lift on both sides. 215/224 @ .050 on a 110 LSA. I feel if I make less than 450 HP I will be doing something wrong. Out of the box the Indimar MCX that used this intake was a Vortec 350 long block with a F-car LT1 cam and high flow marine manifolds. Using this intake and Indimar's calibration it was good for a SAE Marine HP rating of 350 HP. I like the runner design a lot better than a StealthRam and feel they can flow very well once they are cleaned up and opened up to match the head ports. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...45957e826e.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...f79149abed.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...d01a874149.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...4d0212c21d.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...f3b7ad096a.jpg |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Nice looks like street and performance one. |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake That's pretty interesting |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake What'dya think Tony, gonna fit under the firebird hood? This is interesting, have to wait n see how this works. I like the straight down direction of the runners, and that they don't look as long. Maybe have to find one and hog it out.... |

Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Is this no longer in production? Why did it take you so long to get one? |

Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Learn something(or see) new everyday I figured that this would be like the ramjet 350 manifold - curious to see how it fits under hood |

Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Street and performance sold these under the name “ram port” I totally dig the way they look. |

Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Well that answers that question.... Thanks for the link Tuned Performance.... |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Anyone have and idea which foundry cast these? |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake It says bb on the bottom, isn’t that the same foundry that did slp runners ? |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Yup, but you weren't supposed to say it out loud lol |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Lmao |

Not going under a hood per se. Rather under the firewall of an Express van. Which is also very height challenged and the intake will have to fight for room. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...5d2cdf2f91.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...46e3b9da87.jpg |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake I am just hoping there is enough room between the lower intake and thermostat opening to fit a 1991 Caprice thermostat housing so that I can keep it simple and use the stock Vortec upper hose and routing. Worked with the carb intake but it looks like it will be a tight fit with this manifold. That is a stock TBI F-car housing in the picture but runs the hose right into the back of the compressor due to its angle. The B-car one exits on the back side and faces at an angle rearward just like a vortec truck. |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Interesting. I do like the design on a side note, if you are goin thru the trouble of running ignition trans etc on the 0411, why wouldnt you keep the few extra wires to run a efi setup? Lol you still need to program the ecm for ignition and trans shifting. Seems like a waste of potential to lose the injection |

Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Eh i can see the fuel system part i guess. In a thirdgen i wouldnt ever consider carbs. They may make more peak hp but thats highly dependent on the intake you use and they generally will not match overall curve power from longer runner intakes. A tiny amount of methanol injection or even gas at the tb would make some of the power back that carbs make due to intake air cooling. But for a sbc that would mean something between a superram and stealth ram perhaps. The lsx factory intakes are perfect but to bad there isnt a design like them for sbc. A superram based on the first tpi would be ideal |

Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake What's with the magazine quip by Jbuchanan, who the hell is Wayne? |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake It's a joke, there is a thread about an Iroc with 344 miles that went to auction and sold for alot of money that obviously had some paint repair. When the seller got called out on it, he attacked everyone who questioned it. He is pals with Wayne Carini and basically threatened any of us that simply questioned the "originality" of the car. |
Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake O K, that IS funny.... |

Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Search 344 mile 1989 iroc z. It will pop up first. |

Re: Indimar MCX Marine Vortec Intake Weirdly I've got one of these too that I had been planning to install in my third gen for the last 5 years or so. I found your thread while googling to try and work out what it actually is put it on ebay having finally admitted to myself I will never get around to it! It's on ebay now if anyone's interested https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333911925249 |
