Should I paint my car back to the factory color? I bought the car and the guy had put a fresh coat of artic white on it, he said when he bought it from the guy who had previously owned it, the silver stripes were torn, the clear coat was chipping bad (guess it came from cali) and it had a lot of scratches. He painted it white for his GF but she didn't like the car so I snagged it from him for cheap and tried my best to give her new parts (poor thing, interior was shot, was leaking oil from the distributor o-ring, had lots of minor problems). Anyways, im thinking of painting her back to her original color, which would be black (what is the factory black for a 91 camaro? Ebony?) Maybe thats why she acted up so much with me, she just wants her old color back :). I like the white, but what sucks is the guy didn't paint the engine bay or interior and around the weather stripping area's (hatch, etc...) But there is a bit of overspray around those areas. The paint looks really good on the outside, but just those above mentioned areas are horrible. I like the color of both black and white, their both a pain to clean. So what is your opinion? I think I might go get a quote but would like to know what some of you think? Thanks. |
I'm sure you can guess what I voted for :) |
Do tell ;). |
Black is dead sexy |

If you like the white, why not just get the jams painted white instead of the whole car painted black? Just a thought. |
or go with black because it wont be hard where the insides are already black .... go black what the hell!:D |

why not paint it in a Highway Patrol paint scheme? I have a friend who painted his car like that and it's :hail: |
white looks great but if it wasn't done right it doesn't look as good as it could, i'd go with black |
White is easier to hide imperfections and doesn't show dirt and dust and scratches as quickly. Black is really a hard color to get just right. It really depends what quality paint job you're getting too, if you're getting a cheap one orange peel shows up like crazy on a black car, but white will somewhat hide it. I'd say go with black if you're gonna get a decent paint job done, white otherwise. :burnout: |
black is the $hit other than blue. I guess thats why i own 2 cars, guess what colors they are? |
White is very forgiving and looks pretty good. Black is a bitch to paint and shows any little scar, hard to get a nice job on an older car with black. I love a black car though. First 82Z I saw on a car lot when they first came out, was black. Slobbered all over it, no money though. |
do both , do something custom with both of them . |
Black |
factory i'd go back to original color,it's a piece of history you have:cool: |
Black is the color to have |
as Brian Johnson said "Back in Black" |
what is the saying.....? once you go black you don't go back ? not that i'm biased or anything in black cars..? |
once you go black you don't go back black is a veryyy sexy color. |
