Pissed right the **** off

I dunno where to put this, move it if you want

So i was driving down the highway home, tra la la la having a good time. Then BAM!!! ****ing rock hits the top of the windsheild and spiderwebs all around a 8" square area. So the guy I was following did NOT have mudflaps and he was carrying gravel in his truck.... If I can manage to get his licence plate do I have something here? I heard its illegal to transport gravel and stuff without mudflaps

help:bs:

I dont have 200$ + for a new windsheild:mad:

The mudflaps are supposed to prevent the tires from kicking rocks up in the air. If the gravel fell out of the truck, then you need to look into the laws regarding hauling stuff. The laws are different from state to state so you'll have to check your local laws. Here in Hawaii there are specific laws regarding hauling stuff in the truck. A few years back an empty cardboard box flew out of the bed of a truck, caused a lady to swerve, she crossed the center line and ran right into a group of police solo bikers, killing one of them. The guy driving the truck got into big big trouble.

I know this isnt what you wanna hear right now, but to prevent this you should try not to follow trucks hauling stuff. Either pass them or slow down way back in case something falls off. I have personally seen a entire load of 2x4 lumber fall out of a truck on the freeway as well as a surfboard tied to a roof fly off on the freeway. Anyone following those people were screwed. Dont follow them.

I've heard you can get windshields for cheap at the yard, and sometimes they'll install it on the spot. Depends if you want new or used I guess ...

Yeah Im gonna call the cops and see what the laws are. I think its bull**** though. And I wasnt following to close. I think it should be the persons hauling responsibility to make sure their load is secure.

I see your in Canada, so I'm not sure what the laws state there.

But down here if it wasn't witnessed by a officer or both parties stop and file a police report, then there isn't nothing you can do.

I used to drive a gravel truck. One phrase I learned quickly is "that is what insurance is for" If you don't have adequate insurance then your screwed.

I'm gonna say the company that owns the truck will definitly be responsible, however if you didnt get the license plate at the time it happened youre probably SOL.

I know up here in canada if a truck driver hitches up his cab to a trailer in the winter and while he's driving a huge sheet of snow falls off the top of the trailer and an accident happens the driver of the truck is held responsible. Id be willing to bet same principle applies to gravel

Crappy:( Here, Nova Scotia, if the rocks come up off the road nothing they'll do. If it came off the truck body or off the load (they're supposed to be covered) they'll cover it. If it were me, I'd try to remember where it came off before I call anyone. Try calling the truck company, it didn't work for me but it did for my parents. Check your ins. policy, my policy allows a replacement once every 2 or 3 yrs. Some auto glass places here will pay the $100 deductible and it didn't cost me a cent.

That blows. Stuff like that is why I really don't like driving my Camaro. At least, not with other people on the road.;)

And I've noticed something here in Miami. All the windshields in the junkyards (at least on the F-bodies) are broken. And they're all broken right over the VIN number. Every single one. I think the yards do it intentionally, but why?...
