Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record I know you all have seen the Polly T/A from Norway before. Last week it set a speed record on Mercedes' test track in Germany of 394,2 km/h (~245mph!)on wet pavement! That is 25mph higher than the previous record set by a Group C Mercedes race car, set on dry pavement. It is also supposedly the 3rd highest speed recorded for a street regged car. Pretty cool for a 3rd gen TA, huh? He was going to test it further after it dried up, but then the 5th gear gave out so he had to quit. He claimed it had more in it ! The testing was a part of the preparation for his long term plans of participating in the Silver Sate Classics with the T/A Anyway, here is a shot of it at the track - we can all just wish: http://www.vitaminw.no/kunde/amcar/u...burg%20060.jpg Big enough? :D http://www.pollymotorsport.no/images...harger_400.jpg http://www.vitaminw.no/kunde/amcar/upload/Polly2.jpg ;) Ken |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Amazing car....is that wing removable? it does not seem to be in the last picture! |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record More info/link? |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record its a 3rd gen.....? |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record that thing is amazing...any videos? |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record That's an interesting hood in the last pic. It's the first time I've seen something like a Ram Air II hood look "right" on a thirdgen. Don't get me wrong - very often they look "good," but that one really looks like it belongs there. Just look at the angles, they're perfect. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Silver State in Nevada? Well if he brings that car stateside he better keep his eye on it or I might just have to replace it with mine. LOL! j/k. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Sure, here are some links - but you may need to brush up on your norwegian :D http://www.pollymotorsport.no/index....view_photo.php http://www.brentdekk.com/treff/gateb...atebil_06.html http://www.pollymotorsport.no/index....d=14&Itemid=45 Videos (not all of them work, and the ones that do, takes a long time to load) http://www.pollymotorsport.no/index....view_album.php http://youtube.com/watch?v=Cm4DdYPP5Lw http://youtube.com/watch?v=inkkK0sNeNs http://youtube.com/watch?v=18W2nL34QHU ;) Ken ---------- Yes, the SSC in Nevada. I believe it is this fall he is shooting for. ;) Ken |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record I saw the title and was like "probably just another drag car". Glad to see it's not. That thing is AWESOME! And I have to say, it looks good on 20's. I always thought 20's on a thirdgen would look MASSIVE but on that car they look just right. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record WOW! That thing could go up against a Veyron and hold it's own! That's awesome. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record that isn't the normal ram air I hood is it?? it looks bigger |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Sick. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record do you think they will let me drive it :) |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record HOLY SH*#! Its so powerful that it doesnt have traction even at 100mph! |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record that thing is amazing, anyone know what kind of rims those are? there alittle big, but I like the style |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record It is just an insane car! Im sure there are lots of pics and videos to be found by some googling as several of the shows the videos above were from, are attended by 30-40000 spectators :) Oh, and the rims are BBS RC 9x20” og 10x20”. ;) Ken |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record wow, he must go through tires like crazy! |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Wasn't it a twin turbo set up before? |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record 1 Attachment(s) that car is badass!!!! I have this pic of it saved on my hd, I believe its a ra1 hood. |

Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Wow, thank the man above for the almighty thirdgen f-bodies. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Love it...that thing is awesome! |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record  So wait, your saying if I give my car 1400 hp it'll do 245...Who wants to buy my one of those new LSX blocks :burnout: Also, those 20's look really good, it's probably too low for most streets though. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record holy chit!!!!....that would be awsome to have on the streets!.....I love it....in that one vid...he shreds the tires....totally badass! |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record That is just one BAD *** BIRD!!! :burnout:  |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Any idea what they did to get it to hold together at that speed? I would have expected a lot of parts needing reinforcing... Their website seems to be down unfortunately. |

Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record That motor sounded like it was spinning at 10 grand the whole way down the track, AWESOME!!! |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Holy chit that's cool!!!!! 245mph in an f-body has got to be seriously azz puckering.... |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record I love the sound of the car. Muscle cars can take imports on a regular race track. If any imports ever say they can take a muscle car on a track like that i'm going to show them that video. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record I guess his 540 twin turbo set up wasn't enough for him before. Wonder what he is doing with it now. Ideas. |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record From what I could see on the web page (and I know NO norwegian) it looks like it has a 540 cu.in. big block with the turbo generating 17psi at max HP. Can anyone who knows norwegian confirm or deny that? |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record He has gone from the twin-turbo setup to a huge Procharger. Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record What I would like to know. Is why the engine smokes so excessively? Especially down the straight-a-way! Seriously. Blows my mind. Raw unrehearsed power! |
Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Most of what you see is tire smoke ;) Oh, and I don't know how he managed to get the weight distribution - it doesn't say anything about that on the page. I had hoped to see it at the next event this fall to check it out a little closer, but Im guessing he is in Nevada at that point. I missed last years event when he was there, or actually I was a day late. He was there saturday and I was sunday... my luck. BTW, I thought I'd mention (although slightly off topic) that if any of you enjoyed the videos and would like to see what else we are up to over here - do a search on YouTube for "gatebil". That will give you lots of results. That is if you find 1100hp M5s, 1000hp VW Golfs, 1000hp BMW E30s and so forth, fun to watch ;) (oh, and if you don't mind some wild blond ba...ooops never mind) :D ;) Ken |

Re: Some pics of the 1407hp TA that set a speed record Maybe it's mid-engined to get that weight distribution?... Might explain how it all fits under the bonnet. Those ford 9" diffs certainly get around. |
