Hey all, I'm not sure where exactly to post this, but this seemed like the best section of the forum to do so.

Today, I came home after work to discover a note that was left on the windshield of my third gen, asking if I would sell it with a phone number at the bottom of the note. Thing is, it's still pretty beat-up looking and obviously still in the TLC stage :lol:. I have no interest or intent whatsoever to sell it, so I didn't bother to call, but in a way, I guess it's flattering?

Anyone else had this happen to them before? Or other odd forms of admiration/offers towards their cars?

Hell, call and see what he has to offer. Maybe it was someones first car and they will pay out the nose for it. You never know. No harm in seeing.

More like the guy seen your 5 speed and wanted to buy it. They are rare in any year bird or z, rs . versus your overall condition of your rough shaped car, all 5 speed v8s are worth saving from the heap.

I think that's pretty cool some one leaving a note on your car like that. Just one more person that sees the potential of a Third gen.

I always had people wanting to buy my Iroc 15 years ago.
I did have a guy walk up to me today in the parking lot and say, I ve been wanting to tell you how hot you look in that camaro. I said you mean how hot my car looks!
I just had waxed it and it looked great! Oh by the way, I have tried about 5 different waxes, I finaly found one that does a amazing job. Its called ICE by turtle wax.

Back when I was car shopping I used to do this all the time, left notes on tbirds, s10s, and thirdgens everytime I saw one, got a few calls back actually, but no-one with reasonable asking prices. Then I bought my firebird, and have had a few notes left on the car at college while I was in class, I've never called any though, I love my car too much to sell.

When my 86 Trans Am was sitting in my driveway last summer a guy pulled into my driveway and offered me 1500$ for it, the car was mostly stripped, with all the parts in the garage while I restore it, and I only paid 500$ for the car, so I seriously thought about it, but I couldn't sell.

That's actually how I purchased my Camaro. I saw every day going to and from work, just sitting in some ones front yard (yes there front yard). So I left a note on it and a week later i got a call. He told me I could have it for $400.

That would get annoying after a while. Having to pull notes off the car all the time. Especially since I never see the piece of paper until I'm already sitting inside :D

thats how i bought my 88... was out car shopping 10 years ago and happened to peek up a side street and saw it in a driveway, turned around and went up the block and the guy was outside doing yard work, we talked to him and left our number if he ever wanted to sell it, sure enough about 6 months later he called, his wife wanted a new cadillac CTS when they first came out and his Mustang was in the garage, so we bought it. shortly after he sold his mustang and bought a 97 z28 vert lol

I got a note left on my 94 GSXR that had two girls phone numbers on it if that counts. :thumbsup:

Haven't had my car on the road in sometime but it's always great to see little kids giving you thumbs up or yellin "sweet car". Who knows maybe later on they'll be thirdgen owners because they liked my car lol

Before I put my Camaro in "restore mood" and drove it around a lot, I got a note forma kid wanting to buy mine. It was flattering and I did take the time to call him and let him know, the car was not for sale.

You guys crack me up with this "Ill never sell it" nonsense

Give him a call, usually if they go through the trouble of leaving a note they're not going to offer you peanuts for it. Buy a nicer one with the cash

It's not nonsense...my car has a very special meaning to me so I'm really never going to sell it. It's my baby. Sometimes the cash isn't worth it :)

i pulled in to the supermarket at night a while back, and from about 100 yds a guy asked me what engine i had and if i wanted to sell it.

...good thing it was night, and he couldn't see it haha.

I have had a few notes left on my car... man it looked like when ever I did something a person would leave a note the next day..
After I converted it to a T5 and adding headers with a better exhaust I had a note left on my window saying if I sell my car..
So I just called the number on the note to see what they say.. he told me if I was selling my car and I told him nope and he kept asking over and over.. damm I was pissed off.. I told him that my camaro is my first car and it has a lot of meaning to me and told him that I wouldn't sell my car ever..

Now what I do is leave a note on my dash saying "Not For Sell, Please Don't Ask" especially when I have my friend iroc next to my.. I have to make a note for his car

Being in the auto parts business ive had a few customers come inside my store wondering who owns the black TA outside, and they always normally ask, its a normal routine for me, i just say im not interested in selling.

I was driving my camaro on a pizza hut delivery once because the weather was just so damn fricken nice! Had a guy offer me about $3000 for it at this crappy apartment. Dude was fricken crazy, gave me a lot of **** pretending to be a cop and all kinds of weirdness, but he loved the car and wanted to buy it right there.

A year later rolling through the mcdonalds drive through, guess whose working the register? Crazy batshit camaro-lover guy.

Apparently he had one like mine once upon a time and was looking to get what once was... I politely declined.

It is flattering I love getting compliments! Not because I think im hot **** but because I like having an older car that looks nicer that some newer ones!

Last week at a local weekly car show I got stopped before I even parked and got followed by a couple to my parking spot haha

I bought a 1971 camaro once by leaving a note on the windsheild. I was at Bell Square mall and spotted the sleek 71 out of the corner of my eye and had to walk over and take a look. It was 100% stock, down to the poverty caps. Do you know how many 1971 camaros still have the stock AM radio in the dash? Any how, left the note and two months later this older women call me and says she is ready to sell. I bought it without driving it for 1200.00. It had 102K on the odo, 307 and shot TH350. The body was perfect though and I had a BBC laying around.... so I bought it. Drove it home, parked it with a car cover on it then let it sit for 8 years. It rusted out in several places and I sold it along with the BBC for 4K. Wish I would have dumped some cash into that car and still had it.

Leave notes if your serious and answer notes left on your car. You may be suprised what can happen.

Never got that on my camaro...on my dodge charger ive had numerous walk up and notes left. and insults. haha.

Had a couple of brothers offer me 1700 cash for mine at a stoplight once. I could just see them drooling over the fact of putting 24's on my baby haha I told em no way.

I never get notes left on the car, its usually in person. I've been asked at stop lights, at the gas station, and the most memorable time was literally the first time it had left the garage after my swap, it was on a trailer no less! I had stopped at QT to put gas in the tank before I trailered it to the shop to get the exhaust done, so that I could drive it home when it was done. I wasn't even out of the truck completely and someone made a cash offer and I told him no way with a big grin. He asked how come I wouldnt sell it and I popped the hood and said that's why. Haha

In general, verts seem to draw way more attention than the coupes. Bluez, if your ride was a coupe you would still get the same reaction though.

That is one nice ride.

I always laugh when taking my (shsssh, wife still thinks it's hers) 90 vert out. It gets way more attention than my 87. Even though my 87 has low mileage, paint is almost perfect, it's lowered just enough to give it the mean stance and it sounds nasty. I have had people block the vert in at gas stations, Lowes Home Improvement, auto parts stores, car shows and Albertsons to tell me that they love " those cars" and ask how much I would take for it.

The coupe on the other, only been asked a couple of times what it would take to sell it. Both times the offer was less than what I could get for the T-Ram intake.

Yeah when my car is all clean and shiny I get people like badass car man! but no one ever offers cash...it'd take 5k plus to sell mine anyway...which no one would pay...

i had someone ask me to buy my car as soon as i got it. then after i painted it i had someone follow me about 15 miles on the garden state parkway and off the other highways till i got to my destination just to ask to buy my car lol. i was flattered but felt bad when i told them no and the little glimmer of hope died in their eyes lol

first person who offered to buy my car said he saw a GTA with a fender ding but he wanted t-tops. this was prior to doing the work on my car. i should have sold it to him and gotten the GTA but this car was already mine lol. plus i still love the t-tops lol

I've had a couple offers. The first was when I hadn't had it very long. The guy had a Firebird almost just like it already. The second was more recently as it's sitting in the driveway non-running. A guy walked up and asked if I would consider selling. I obviously declined both times. I've owned this car far too long to let go of it just because someone flashes some cash. The way I see it, if there's something I don't like about the car I can fix it, but you can't fix regret. There's a reason people say "I wish I still had that car."

My car is too damn ugly for anyone to want it, lol. I tell people its my anti theft device. Just keep it ugly enough for no one to care :lol: Hell, I've never even got a compliment on it.

When my IROC was in the body shop last fall, I came in one morning and found a "sold" sign on the windshield with some chick's name and phone number on it. The paint wasn't even dry yet, and its not for sale. I thought about calling her just for fun, but the shop owner said " nah, i dont think you wanna do that". I took his advice.

The shop owner actually told me later If she ever bought a Camaro she would have to remove the console and put in a bench seat. Take that as you will........

i forgot, someone a tree service was doing some cutting across the street from me and the guy walked over and offered to buy my car. man, a lot of people want thirdgens, huh?
