I need to repair my racing stripe

I have a black racing stripe on my 92 RS, and a small piece is missing at the edge of the cowl. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just need a small piece. I am also trying to figure out how I am gonna fix the jagged edges, and mate up vinyl to it, with out further damaging it.

I work at a sign/graphic shop and work with vinyl everyday... you should be able to take your car to a sign shop so they can match the viny.... once you get the vinyl you will need to square the edged on the hood then fit in the small piece.

That's how i would repair that but there will be a seam if u look closely... also u will need to be sure the surface is clean (clean with alcohol) before you put the new piece in...

Hope this help

Yeah, thanks. I'm not so worried about seeing the seem if I look closely. Right now I don't have too close a look to see whats missing. Properly done it would be an improvement.

You will need a straight edge and an exacto knife, really light pressure on the decal as you cut, then you can use the point in the blade to pick up the edge of the material you cut. I would go very slow and keep your one hand on the part that is staying on the car so it does not lift up on you; good luck.

About 15yrs of commercial sign business for me.....You are going to have a VERY hard time finding vinyl at a shop that matches the automotive factory stripe material. Not just the color, but the commercial signage vinyls are roughly 2-3 times thicker, although still very thin material.

This hits home also. Everything I am reading on this thread is why I am apprehensive about this repair. This camaro is a looker. I have had it in car shows.
