Finally got the wheels/tires on the car and got it cleaned up. Still have a lot of detailing to do because the car sat for over a year collecting dirt and spider webs.

I hate that hood with a passion but you have the perfect storm of elements to pull it off and make it look decent. Beautiful car, sir.

Re: New wheels, cleaned the car a little.

Thank you everyone, it has taken me 8 years just to get to this point. Still needs so much more, like upgraded brakes all the way around.

SD, yes, not the best pictures because I took them with my phone, scenery isn't spectacular either but I will have some professional photographs taken hopefully soon.

Infernal, I have considered selling the hood because i'm not happy with it's fitment. I love how it looks though. Thank you for the compliment.

//<86ta>\\, They fit awesome. I felt around inside the inner fender wells on the rear and it is very close, can't get my fingers in there. I haven't driven it yet and before I do I plan on massaging the inner fender a little with a BFH. Wouldn't need much.

Yes 20mm offset, and 295/35. Ended up paying $256 for BOTH of the rears new.

Are those 9.5 or 10 in the rear also what spacers did you use? O have xxr 521 in 18x10 and 18x8.5 with close to your offsets. I came up with 3/4 fronts and 1/4 rear curious what yours are. And the car wheel combo is dead on.

I bought one 295 on ebay new for $75 which was mounted on a replica mustang billet wheel. I unmounted it and mounted it on my XXR, then I sold the replica wheel on ebay for $75. The tire was free basically. I then bought the other 295 from discount tire direct for $256. If you wait to a certain time a year I have seen the 295's down to $236ea. Fronts I ended up paying $207.50ea.
resop, 9" fronts and 10.5" rears. I used 1.25" spacers in the front, the rears fit perfectly(minus some inner fender massaging.)

I agree with the sentiments regarding the hood. Other than that, it looks good.

**Edit** The experience I have with the XXR's shows that the front hub hole is too small. Did you open it up? What did you do for a cap? Can't tell by the pics. Thanks.

No, I did not open it. Because I went with a 1.25" spacer, it pushed the wheels out enough that the hub wasn't an issue. The dust cap I massaged in slightly so the center caps would go on.

Thank you.

I am hoping to get the car on the road and have the windows tinted this summer...better get the air conditioner working before that though. Going to be a hot summer!

I have a set of GM emblems that I as thinking of painting black...either all black or black with red GM and underline to it. When I do my brake upgrade the calipers will be red also.

I was thinking of putting them just behind the front wheel on the rocker ground effects. Thoughts? I've also seen them at the beginning of the door guard strips.

I will probably apply it with painters tape and see how it looks. That area of the car just looks empty to me. Then again i'm afraid of overwhelming the car with too many black accents. That's one reason I undid the blacked out taillights.

Hi Charcoalbird, Very nice car. Really like the color. I have a question. Are you running the 18x10.5 on a stock third gen rear end? I couldn't find it in your posts and was just curious? Thanks.

XXR makes some of my favorite wheels on the market. I wish the restrictive work network would let me view the images. I'll have to check it out when I get home!

Yes miaojo, it is the stock 3rd gen rear end. And thank you for the compliments.

Bringing this thread back to life ....

Those wheels look great!

I'm pretty sure you said you didn't run spacers on the rear.

Aren't those 5 x 120? If so, how did you get them to fit?

CharcoalBird 10-26-2015 12:02 PM

Re: New wheels, cleaned the car a little.

Thank you, Sean.

No wheel spacers on the rear. I used wobble nuts to help correct the .65MM difference in bolt pattern.

Since those pictures I have tinted the Windows and lowered it some.
