Primer on for a month, how should I proceed?

My "new" car, a 2000 Mustang was garaged its whole life. 75,000 miles and while not cherry, it was close. Got the hood dented and 1/4 has been primed for over a month. I wet sanded it smooth with 2000 a week ago. What should I do to the primed coat before I apply the base coat? TIA
