Radio Trim First off...I posted this in the History/Restoration board, and no one seemed to know anything. I will try it here as well... Anyone know where I could get the radio trim that plate for the radio pod that has the "Performance Sound" badge on there? I've seen so far it only came on '85 T/A's. Anyone know who has them? I checked Classic Industries, nextgen parts, ebay, havn't tried the dealer yet, but I'd image they are either nuts for it, or don't have it. Anyone know where I could get one? Or, anyone willing to offer? Thanks for the info!! |
i can say thats true, my 85 trans am has one, i havent seen them on many cars. You should try in the ads. Maybe someone will have one from an 85 , or just dont worry abou it. |
Moving this to Interior.. |
Yeah, probably just keep my eyes open then. Thanks |
The radio bezel trim is actually still available from GM as part number 10034186. There also was a part number for that little "Performance Sound' badge itself, it was 10041405, but I don't think it's available any longer....check with your local GM parts dept. I have one on my car that it came with originally and I have had lots of people asking if I would sell it. Keeps our eyes peeled in boneyards and ebay, good luck, the majority of them have probably already been snagged. -Josh |
Thanks for the info. I'll check w/ some dealers and see what I come up w/. Thanks again! |
Josh: I just got Item # 10034186 back from the dealer, and it's the plain bezel w/o the badge. I thought you said that was the order for the trim WITH the badge? GM wouldn't tell me, b/c they said they don't know what it is, they just know they could get it. Man, this sucks! |

you could always make one out of plexiglass and etch whatever you want into it with a dremel. Put some leds behind it etc. Thata what i did when i didnt have that piece. |
I have one if anyone is looking for one. |
try ebay. look for someone trying to sell parts off a car being parted out. search under 1985 trans am or firebird and see if anyone is parting one out. also even if some of the thridgens may not be what your looking for some of the parts ars are one of many. i know there is a couple of thirdgen junk yards selling parts on ebay all the time. just ask them if they have a 1985 trans am and if it still has the badge. or check out http://www.moderndaymuscle.com/home2 they part out thirdgens. e-mai land ask them good luck |
it's funny, I used to have that badge on my radio pod when my car still had it's original console. At some point in the car's life somone had stolen the radio, and broke the trim plate BADLY. If I had known how rare the badge was, I would have tried to save it for somone, but It got thrown away when I put in a new camaro console :( |
