4th gen console gaps
 

Im test fitting mine in a parts car i have, but its got gaps everywhere, along the driver side, in the back, along the passanger side. Is everyones like this?

i thought you cut cut away at plastic on the underside to fix it..

Put some padding under the carpet and when you press the console down it will fill in the gaps. Or you can trim the console to fit better.

When I put mine in I had gaps too. i trimmed here and there and got it centered alittle better. I also moved the shifter to the driverside and back alittle. For the front right corner where the pull out cup holder is...I tack welded a piece of metal in that sort of resembles an "L" bracket which pushed the carpet up to the console. It also supports the console corner, making it more level with the bottom of the radio pod. A bunch of rags or some foam padding will work if you dont feel like or cant weld somethin in. Thats what I had at first. Otherwise, trim, and add some foam like was already said.

Mine went right in, I only had to trim a little on the front, took about a minutes with a sawzall. The back and driverside are good. I was looking at the passanger side the other day and thinking maybie I could pull back the carpet, coat the sheet metal and underside of the carpet around the console in vasoline, grease or somthing, then use spray insulation so that the carpet would come out and be flush with the console.

I think it would work out well, I just didnt bother to check if doing it would cause wrinkles or anything in the carpet. If it did work it would come right out because of the grease so switching back to the 3rd gen console woulnd't be a big deal, and its light and strong.
