Door Sweeps

I need to replace the inner and outer window sweeps. I can see that the outer sweeps screw into the door, but the inner sweeps look like they are attached permanently to the interior door trim. Do I have to replace the entire interior piece also or am I just seeing it wrong? I haven't pulled it apart yet, just looking down into the door.

remove the door panel and you will see how it is attached it is simple really. no need to buy a new door panel just the sweep

I just looked at it again and to me it looks as if the inner sweep is attached with plastic rivets to the inner door molding. It does not look as if the inner sweep will come off of the molding. I can even see that one or two of the plastic rivets are broken. I'm not trying to be difficult, I just hate getting into a project and then not having what I need.

all you need to do is replace the entire upper door trim the black ledge piece so to speak...its called the "upper door trim" simply remove these pieces where they meet with the door panel and yes you will have to kinda tear them out....then take your door panel and put it back on and then place the upper door trim on and it should look as if they are one piece...this is the only way that ive been told it can be done...if you want it to be one piece then your gonna have to be lucky enough to find door panels with the original door trim in tact and in great condition....ill tell ya now ....NOT GONNA HAPPEN

yes you are right they are riveted into the upper door trim thats why when you replace the inner sweeps you have to buy the upper door trim you can find it a nice pair on ebay for 40-60 bucks
