Seems pretty simple. A piece of metal with some bends dresses up the area quite nicely.

roughskinjrz 10-01-2005 01:45 PM

yup yer right, any updated news yet?

Back to the main subject...

I'll start checking out the radiator cover next week - I need to be at work to start designing it (using Pro/Engineer software). I'll post the picture to make sure its what your intending.
(note: thats if I dont doze off at work from baby keeping me up most of the night) LOL. :p

nice baby, enjoying the camaro i see.

let us know when you find out measurements, im anxious to get one.

I took some fast measurements... Is this the form you guys are after? Uses existing 4 holes to assembly. I will probably slot the holes, spacing for mine was 8 3/4"; 8 7/8"; 8 7/8". These were centerline dims of the screws. If a couple of you could measure to double check yours, that would be great. I'm trying to find a part you all will be satisfied with.

roughskinjrz 10-10-2005 11:14 AM

yeah those are the right sizes, the first one would do me, i dont think the second one would fit.

scooter 10-10-2005 12:57 PM

The second drawing is the same as the first just turned....... right?

WickedSun 10-10-2005 01:01 PM

Yes.. its just a different rotation. Trying to show the angles in the second view (angles I took from my camaro).

roughskinjrz 10-10-2005 01:03 PM

hmm what are the dimensions of the piece, maybe its just the pic but it looks kinda big, maybe not. lol.

WickedSun 10-10-2005 01:19 PM

I have to verify, but the numbers on my scratch index card say:
Length = 27 15/16"
Formed Width = 4 1/4" (as looking on top)
The holes are 8 3/4"; 8 7/8"; 8 7/8" centerlines

roughskinjrz 10-10-2005 01:26 PM

ok you must have it right, since they are all the same, lol

roughskinjrz 12-10-2005 11:54 AM

bump

any new news yet?

Scania 12-11-2005 03:30 PM

I want one too if somebody makes them.

roughskinjrz 12-11-2005 03:45 PM

i broke another piece of mine, so i need a new one, and id rather have a chrome or polished aluminum one.

black84z28-4spd 12-15-2005 10:24 PM

Sinister Z 12-16-2005 04:05 AM

The one that I have on my car is off a Chevelle...fits with no problems and I sure you can get it at jegs or summit racing.

what year chevelles? you have one of the cleanest engine bays Ive ever seen and your car is bad ***.:burnout:

roughskinjrz 12-16-2005 01:57 PM

yes what year chevelle, and did it fit without any modification?

Sinister Z 12-16-2005 05:23 PM

It's from the 69-70 chevelles...and it depends what size of radiator you have it comes in 2 different sizes 27" & 31" I have the griffen rad in mine and I have the 31' support.
I hope that this info will give you the answers that you are looking for.

tomwilson 12-17-2005 08:51 PM

Just wondering if anyone has tried this with a stock radiator?

Karps TA 04-07-2006 10:37 AM

Heres what I came up with bending my own for my new rad. Got this on the first try too. lol

http://home.wi.rr.com/karpsta/shroud2.jpg

I'm going to clean it up and spray it the same color as the engine bay.

roughskinjrz 04-07-2006 10:43 AM

thats pretty sweet, you made that yourself?

Karps TA 04-07-2006 10:49 AM

Yep. I lucked out and knew someone with a sheet metal brake. But created the template using posterboard. I found several local places that would have bent it for me pretty cheap if need be, once I had a template.

roughskinjrz 04-07-2006 10:51 AM

i've been looking for one for 3 years :bs:

CamarosRUS 04-08-2006 11:30 PM

i made mine as well....$3 in steel and about 40 minutes. doing things like that really make you proud of the car and much more attached to it.

roughskinjrz 04-09-2006 01:28 AM

cough* if you make another one ill pay

Sorry to revive an ancient thread. But is anyone making a cover like mentioned in wickedsun's post?

Re: who sells chrome radiator supports

Are you talking about the radiator filler panel that goes from the bumper to the core support or the radiator cover that keeps the radiator standing up? If you're interested n the filler panel there is a thread in the fabrication board about a guy who "might" start making pieces like these, go over there and submit your need for one too. But at any rate both pieces are not much more than sheet metal bent in a brake. I made one that fit a stock dual fan setup and another for my current setup but they are on Photobucket at the moment....
