i was ganna sand like you said but they looked pretty good just stripped and plolished and repainted...wetsanding is alot of work i remeber my iroc wheels took like 2hrs each min.

Karps TA 01-11-2006 01:54 PM

Didn't they do that on the similar wheels that were on like Grand Ams and Grand Prixs?

jcurrieirocz 01-12-2006 03:50 PM

my old grand am had all red wheels and i striped them off too.... i think some were white in where i painted too. I was going for the 2nd gen balckbird or special ed. look yah know the gold and polished look.

Looks amazing Jeff!

i now have all 4 done....and yah they looked like they were never used before i ruined them in the 1st place by trying to clean them with simple green and some warm water....it clouded up the clear coat and ruiened the shine of the wheels. Theres no curb rash at all very nice.

wow nice job man:thumbsup: did you just use "rattle cans"?

85_ZED28 01-13-2006 06:08 PM

Nice! I can't wait to see pics of them on the car

jcurrieirocz 01-16-2006 10:09 AM

yah i did just use rattle cans for the gold....i find if you give them a lite sand and a few good shots of quality auto primer and then the gold useing all auto paint they turn out nice.... the rattle can and i get along pretty good. I used about 1/2 a can of primer and like 3/4 of a can of gold. And a pint of heavy duty furnature stripper.

Once i get them on the car (2or3 months from now) ill try and remeber to dig up this tread and post them.....i also got new gold decals to go on at the same time...i cant wait.
