Recovered Headliner - Not perfect but much better
 

My headliner was in terrible condition so i picked up fabric and a can of headliner adhesive. $1.50 was all the fabric cost for enough to do my headliner and sail panels, not bad at all. Took about 4 hours for the entire job, that included removing the headliner, cleanning it, recovering it, and reinstalling it. Well worth the time and effort. The corners were the only really hard part to do but I figured out a way to get it done. My girlfriend wanted to start helping me with my car so this was our first job together and I'll say she was a big help. Definately good to have a second person.

The corner's didn't get as tight as I wouldd hve liked them but they are much better than before.

Here's the sail panels. I need to do a little fix to tighten up the driver side one a little bit but they are much better than before. The last owner had painted them with black spraypaint that would just flake off. So i had taken them out and not had any for about a year and a half. Good to complete the interior again.

That's a pretty good job for a job that is a PITA. I just finished mine today and I tell you it was a challenge. I also redid my visors and with the leftover material I covered my carmine red carpeted center console. Thanks for sharing :thumbsup:

good post man, mine is in similar condition, I will be doing it very soon as well. Very good job.

Don't take this in a bad way, but I think you could have done a better job and made it look like new if you took your time. Now you have new fabric that's hanging off.

Nice job. I have to do the same thing to my car soon. My car doesnt have t-tops so it will be easier. How did you get the headliner off?

I used felt cuz the other fabrics really dont stretch

Only thing I dont like is like the middle T bar you can see its kinda fatter than the corners cuz the middle part is not pulled as tight against the backing

I eventually did all the rear plastics too

Doing the plastic is a good idea. I have seen them on a thirdgen before and it looked really cool. My plastic is faded too. How hard was it to do the plastic and how did you put it on?

Hardest part of plastic was installing the finished pieces
Covering them was very simple

I used spray glue and epoxy on the back

Make a good base coat on the back of the felt and the cleaned plastic before you spray the adhering coat

Youll go thru about 6 cans for the rear plastics

Excellent noise reduction too

lol that is much better than what happened to mine.my headliner started to droop so i asked my dad to help me recover it. so when it came time to go around the corners my dad cut out small "V's" and well it did not turn out the best i was missing fabric in some places :doh: but yours looks good nice job:thumbsup:

A Little Trick in IRONING OUT the Creases and Folds in the Center T Top Section TURNING to the Right and Left of the Center is.........STEAM . Try Steaming and then Pressing the Fabric Flat at the Turns . Hope that Helps in Ironing Out you Prob there... Wink...;) :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Very nice work. I redid my ttop car and it turned out very similar to yours. Not 100 percent show, but respectable and much nicer than before. Very nice. I cut the the corner and glued a "v" patch in place, just an idea.
