interactive paint software

So here's the thought...
If my wife can see what her hair would look like in a different color, and my nephews Xbox/PS2 race game can customize it's tooners why can't I find the program to try colors on my TA without having to buy a spray can? Anybody got a link for somthing like this?

do you have windows in your computer? if so you should have the paint program, what i'm trying to say is to get a pic of your car, open it with the paint program and kinda paint over it. unless you want realistic visual of the car. may not be the results you are looking for but i like to do that sometimes. i just did my car right now look.

Just go get a copy of paint shop pro and you can use the "color replacer" tool to change the paint. The cool thing with PSP is the shades stay the same, so unlike the above picture the colors look real.

Some free photo editing software you can use on a Windows Machine:

GIMP - http://www.gimp.org/

Paint .NET - http://www.getpaint.net/index2.html

I've heard that Paint.NET is a very nice full featured piece of software if you're not used to photoshop/GIMP. You might also try posting in the Signature Pictures and PhotoShop Requests section of the thirdgen.org techboard.

This own't help too many people, but at Summit Racing they have a couple computers in the shop where you can pick your car, year, make, and model. then it lets you pick options like color and rims. They all the rims in thier inventory for it.

wouln't be cost effective to go there, I guess...I need some brainiac with a lead foot. I'd use it... but then how often do you get a paint job!

I looked for a program like this for awhile...I know that some paint and body shops have such a program.....You might try using the one that Discount tires has, if I remember right, it will let you change the color of your car (could be wrong), when you try different wheels on your ride....Anyway it is similar to what you are wanting....Tom

Well - you can browse to that section of the forum I suggested. I bet there's somebody there who's willing to help. I also fixed the link I provided above. :) :)

your better off walking the car lots and find a color you like or get color chips from the paint shop. no photo program will match paint in the real world........

house of kolor does have a high end software for their line though that allows you to do exaclty that. but its big money to run.

Well two things.

One i was reading a old hot rod magazine a few years back well camping. And one of the ads was for some website that you could change the colors of cars. Like you'd pick the make model and year and could also change wheels. nifty little thing. But threw away the magazine because it got water spilled on it. Cant for the life of me think of it. And then the other is like pit stop pro or something like that. My dad works for belle tire and before he moved to that store he was working at a some what local shop. They have i think 4 stores in Michigan and thats it. But at that store they had this program. I think thats what it is ill ask him about it later when he gets home. But on that you could change wheels, tires, paint, ride height, and tint. and they had most models of cars. I used to to find the wheels and tires for my truck before i sold that. Im gonna have to go see if we have that laying around.
----------
Well no its not pit stop pro. Ill keep looking thouh.

What if you have a gray car with a white bumper and hood. There's no way to color match the white with the gray, especially if the bumper is flat white and the hood is gloss.

Paint shop pro 6 works for me for quick color adjustments. Select only the car or certain body parts to match colors or keep the background the same.
