Car covers I have this question, Why car cover vendors do not recommend to use their products within the first six months after car has been painted. any idea? |
Re: Car covers Because the paint might not be fully cured, dependant on the type of paint used. It needs time to outgas and fully harden. It's protection for them so that the cover doesn't leave any impressions or marks in the paint. I use a suction cup with a reflection board when I do dent removal. On cars that have been repainted months before, the suction cup sometimes leaves a ring in the clear coat. To remove the ring, the car needs to be parked in the sun. The first time I saw it, I thought I needed to wet sand the area, but the owner stated that it gradually faded away over a couple of weeks. A car cover can leave the same marks in the clear, but if left long enough, might become permanent. |
