How about a stock style spoiler but a little higher? ASCD has one but it sticks up too far.

And although it won't ever get approval from most of us (me included) a compliment of shopping cart spoilers tall enough to hang laundry from will probably sell fairly well and allow you to give us big discounts on more tasteful products https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/biggrin.gif

maybe some "hatch extension" style, like the c-5 Corvette's or the 96-02 RS 3piece looks kit spoiler. but make it mesh nicely. just an idea, i have no idea if it would turn out hideous or not.

T-5 tranny. thank god, i couldnt stand an LG4 auto.
Plans for an LT-1 or LT-4,
also plans for dual flowmaster exaust.

Got a corvette when i was 16, paid for it myself, screwed the engine up (idiot light didnt work, and i trusted the guy when he said he just changed the oil), and it turned into a project car.
now my TA is my daily driver. not a bad one, but it needs to be faster.

ehehe i say make something like the "Escudo: pikes peak edition" from gran tourizmo 2.

really though, i would love a bigger spoiler on the rear (you know, how it kind of has a lip that angles up) than a wing. just higher up.

but still, how about a wing, which is fairly subtle, but is controlled by a motor and an internal car switch, so say as you drove faster, you could flick the switch, and have the wing pop up, and extend out a bit. make it go through a cool process to get up and extended. kinda showy, but then, thats pretty much the point of a wing. i doubt most people need 100+ pounds of downforce on the rear wheels on the street. even the dodge viper "venom" package took their custom wing off to test its max speed.

as a bonus, you would pick up alot of chicks with my mechanical wing idea.

somehow, i doubt anyone will ever make one! https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/smile.gif

I'v always like the idea of a spoiler found on the 1970 Plymouth Superbird.

On another note, I think Christos's idea is pretty cool. Similar to the spoiler on the Boxters..

I'm thinking something a little taller then stock like irock is talking about. I agree with you about the three story wings that you can hang your laundry on. might sell but leave them on the rice burnners. I will check into the others you guys are talking about. If I come up with something I well run it by you guys and get your thoughts on it

oldblueZ 01-19-2001 08:47 AM

I really like my wing. It's taller than the Z28 wing and doesn't have the two pillars in the middle. It practically frames the rear view window when looking through the mirror. I've gotten nice compliments for it and I actually have a guy trying to trade with me. It has a long LED in the back of it too, I'd say it's about 18", but that is just a guess and I haven't looked at the light in a while.

I've got a lot of pics in my sig. I can get more if you want me too, I can even take measurements.

Overall, it makes my car look mean.

What about a spoiler like on the 4th generation ss? Would it be possible to make one like that. Sort of rounded instead of the square type like the 91/92 camaros. What do you guys think?

I see Christo shares my idea. Inspired in my case by the Porche moveable spoiler. My Camaro is a convertible which has the advantage of having a trunk to hide the mechanism. I plan to use either one or 2 electric motors driving screw jacks to raise the spoiler at speed. I would prefer it to be automatic raising up to full height at speed. But of course with a manual bypass method to keep it raised to show off at club events, etc. If you are seeking a more effective spoiler (read more downforce) without the aerodynamic penalty, look to the Firebird type spoiler.

I partly agree with BTS88IROC, on the late model SS style. I thought about that once or twice before also. It couldn't be too rounded though, as it would clash with the squarish or boxy styling of the Camaro.

SlowCamaro88SC 01-20-2001 10:54 AM

I sent you e-mail the other day. how about a 3-piece wraparound (on most camaros) spoiler, but w/ a higher rise (nascar style). Or like I suggested as well, redoing the '91-'92 z/28 wing, but about 2 inches shorter (lower) and slap the ole' 3-piece wraparound on top of that! the e-mail was a pic of a '97 RS and it's spoiler. just look up "1997 camaro RS" on any search engine, you will get pics. i think a redesigned 3-piece and a reworked wing/spoiler is the popular gospel around here.

I wanted a Superbird type spoiler on my car too, but everyone told me it would be too rice. Motion Glass (like Baldwin-Motion) makes a wing called the F40 wing. Its a Superbird wing. Its in the Motion glass ad in the back of any super chevy magazine.

I've always liked the taller IROC style spoiler ASCD makes except for their outrageous price and the fact that they don't offer it with a third brake light for the 87-90 owners. Fix these problems and I think you'd sell them.

Nightcruzer 01-24-2001 07:16 PM

88blkiroc,
See my recent post reply under "need spoiler opinions" in the appearances section.

ERIC'86IROC 01-31-2001 12:22 PM

I also like the taller stock IROC/RS style spoiler from ASCD. They recently discontinued it due to fit problems. Maybe you could make one about 3" high and another about 5" high. I will buy one! The red Camaro HOT ROD built, "15 Week Wonder", back in 1999 used one that looked awesome. It was very subtle in my opinion and looks great will a higher(cowl) than stock hood.
