Nonfunctional RA to Functional Ram Air Hood

Hey guys, so I bought a ram air hood before I painted my car and it was the kind that was just for looks. Well after looking around for threads on people that have made them functional I ended up not finding anything. I may have missed one somewhere but I looked in the tech articles and searched on the forums high and low.

So I decided to dive on in and get to work on making mine functional. I began by pulling my grille cover things.

And then taking my handy dandy dremel to get some holes started at the corners in a L shape so I could fit in the sawzaw blade and then cut it by hand with that the rest of the way. It didnt look the prettiest but its covered by the covers so it will work.

You can see the drivers side hole. And then how its covered on the passenger side. Kindve dark but you get the basic idea.

Next I popped the hood and took a look at the inside layer. I decided to try and use a hole saw and do a few holes that way to see what it would look like. I ended up liking it and didnt use the sawzaw blade on this side. Here is a shot of the under hood side.

As you can probably guess the hood has a void on the inside where I drilled into. I could most likely fiberglass a path for the air to go straight through. But that seems like alot of work and potential harm to the fresh paint. Plus I have barely any experience with fiberglass. I figure that this is better then nothing.

That ought to work. Are you going to build a box for the air intake on your engine?

Currently I have just a k&n filter on the throttle body. The plan is to add that layer on, or buy a box.
