Rear spoiler installation Hello boys 'n gals! Finally I have found a spare rear spoiler for my 3rd gen firebird transam that I have repainted. Now, during the installation I have some problems with fitting the spoiler tightly to the rear hatch. One corner of spoiler "leg" sits on the hatch while the other three corners has about half an inch of space between them (see image below). Is there supposed to be some kind of mounting bracket/gasket between the spoiler leg and hatch or what? I'm confused... Any toughts? Any help appreciated... https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...360eae8089.jpg |
Re: Rear spoiler installation Aftermarket? Original? And I think the original spoiler had a thin rubber or plastic gasket between it and the deck lid. The original may have just degraded. You could make another gasket out of rubber and put it under it. That's what I did. Also it could be the rear deck of your car is slightly out of alignment and it sits lopsided. These cars do flex a lot over time so it's not uncommon for the deck to sit slightly off center. |
Re: Rear spoiler installation Thanks for the info! Spoiler is original and the deck lid could be sligthy offset but not much - at least not so much it could cause such a gap between the spoiler and the lid. Anyway, rubber is a great idea - will give it a try. Thnx! |
Re: Rear spoiler installation There's no gasket on the original wrap wing, just the straight wing. It has a metal frame inside, probably bent a little. |
