Any such thing as good quality fiberglass hood?

I've got some paint bubbling on the hood. The usual for white 90's GM products. Since I have to repaint the hood I was wondering if there is a lighter alternative, probably fiberglass. I know most aftermarket fiberglass is wavy but, is there a lighter high quality hood available? I've never heard of an aluminium hood for a 3G. High quality carbon could also be an alternative but never heard of one of these either. As always, thanks for any info.

Nothing , well what I "know"; I have read that factory IROC's had a fiberglass hood. I don't know if it's true or if they are still available. I had a Harwood hood on another car long ago and the fit was garbage for a street car. I believe they were intended for race cars and didn't care about fit much. Maybe they got better since then.

Early Z28s came with a glass hood. I have a couple still.
My choice though is the GlassTek cowl hood. Fits well. Well made.

I hear good things about the fit and finish of the Cervinis hoods. Top quality.

I don't have a Glastek, but considered one at one time and did my research. That's who i would go with, plus I like the shape of the cowl. That's an opinion though, not a hard fact.

Thanks guys, I figured somebody made good quality hoods but searches got me nowhere. I'll be calling glasstech soon.

Does anyone know what happened to suncoast creations? They made functional ram air hoods but seem to have just disappeared. The website has not been updated since 2016. Their Facebook page has posts from last year but the telephone number listed on the page is no good.

Thanks for the info, I hate they are out of business. Any ideas who else makes functional ram air hoods for firebirds?

Back in the 80's I had a Harwood lift-off L-88 hood on my '68 Camaro....nice fit and smooth, non-wavy gelcoat finish....local performane store I ordered it through even commented on how good it looked. That was a long time ago though, and I've heard complaints about Harwood here and there over the years, but my only experience with them was positive. Cars I've owned since, have gotten steel cowl hoods, which have also been hit-or-miss as far as fit and finish goes, so luck may always have something to do with it.

Depends how picky you are. I've never seen a glass hood that didn't need work, but just like steel, a good body man will work it however you want it. It's not any more difficult to work than anything else, but if you need fg, and want it to not look like fg, than just like steel, it will cost you some.... I'm using a flimsy harwwod, but I made it work.

Yes, the Harwood #B-12101 is an excellent hood. Stay far away from that piece-of-**** "Sunoco" hood that Hawk's makes and sells.

I have a Cervinis stalker on my car, it was on it when I bought the car. Ive had harwood, and knock off brands in the past. The cervinis is far higher quality than any of those, hard to explain but it feels "solid". Definately a quality peice.

Well, I got the Glasstech 2 in. cowl and I gotta say, it's gorgeous. I really like the cowl shape and it looks to be of really good quality. The shipping box had a tear in it so I looked it over really close. Cant wait to get it on.
