Cheap weatherstripping solution?
 

Is there any makeshift way to fix weatherstripping? Water is getting inside my doors when it rains and I don't currently have the money for weatherstripping. I don't have a garage either, so the car has to sit out in rain. The only solution I can think of is just covering the car with something for now.

If the weatherstrip is collapsed in certain areas (and the door does not require adjustment), I have used the following trick. Go purchase some various sizes of windshield washer and vacuum tubing, and a tube of black RTV. Make a slit in your weatherstrip in a spot beyond the collapsed section and insert as much tubing as necessary to make the weatherstrip pop back out. Silicone spray will help it slide inside. When you get it where you want it and it seals, then just use a dab of RTV to seal up the slice you made. Good luck.
It might also be that your door hinge bushings are shot and letting the door sag. Fully open the door and grab the end opposite the hinges and see if the door moves up and down.

Wonder if this would be any good? Reviews seem fine and someone even was saying they use it for car restoration.

I doubt it. It needs to have the proper shape. Plus you will have to glue it in place. The method I suggested uses your original weatherstrip, which is still in place. Stuffing it just "pumps" it back up.

It has self adhesive sticky stuff on the strip of it. Not sure how long it will last... It says it's weather proof and is even used for boats. Not sure how true any of that is. I just stuck it right on over the old weatherstripping. Regardless of how shitty it looks if it keeps water out that's all I wanted. I'll update on results after the next storm.

Had a pretty large storm and water stayed out. The weatherstripping doesn't look the greatest and I'm not so sure how long it will stay on. In my opinion it's worth the $8 to keep water out.

Look for "The Right Stuff" gasket maker at the auto parts store. It's thicker than the regular RTV and a lot easier to handle when you are trying to make something a specific shape. It dries really fast and is nearly as strong as regular RTV on a clean surface.
