OER weather strip

Anybody ever use the OER t top seals? I'm getting ready to install after paint and I cannot get these to line up. They're good all the way around from the back pillar to the top corner of the windshield, an then it just sees to hang out too far from the body. Plus the screw tab doesn't line up. I've attached some pics.

I used them on my 1985. Garbage. Do yourself a favor and throw it away or demand a refund.

My 1987 has Soffseal that fit great. I hear Fairchild is also good.

OER are junk. I used them on my 87 GTA. The rubber was so thin in all the corners you could basically push your finger through them with ease. On my 89 GTA I found a set of NOS seals, expensive to buy. I also have a set of SofSeal seals as well. I have yet to install either set.

Thanks for the replies! I don't think returning them is an option, I've had them for a while, plus I got them from Classic Industries, which is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. I think I'll just get a set of Soffseal. No rush, I don't think this will hit the road this year.

looks like you have it stretched too far along the top of the windshield. try working it back some.

done a handful of these with different makes of seals. all of them need a little finessing.

I have a thread on the roof rail seals Fairchild vs OER. As mentioned, OER is trash and you’re right that classic industries sucks to deal with. I’d cut your loses and order a new set. I recommend Fairchild if they make kits for t-top cars and to order your new seals from 1aauto. They do free same day shipping, they’re former sponsors, and have good customer service. I have no experience with soft seal but they seem to be pretty well liked.

I haven’t replaced mine yet (and dang do I need to) but I’ve heard Fairchild has the molded plastic pieces and most other brands don’t. I’ll probably be giving Fairchild a try whenever I get around to it.

I’ve also read about people having a hard time closing their doors with soft seal until the weatherstrips “break in”. I’m assuming the Fairchild strips do it too but I’m not sure

Well, Classic Industries reached out and tried to make it right. That says a lot. They sent me a new set, but they're still OER brand. I guess they make them in several places on different molds. They are definitely different than the other ones at the corners and they fit better, but the problem is that the manufacturing is terrible. I guess OER just sucks no matter what. I don't think they have any quality control. So the hunt continues. Pictures attached.

At least they tired to fix it. However, just like a car fixed with OER parts, it doesn’t work out in the end lol. Mine also looked like that when they arrived.

Yeah, maybe they ought to think about dumping OER from their line and moving to Soffseal or Fairchild. I've heard good about both of them.

Re: OER weather strip

I think classic owns OER, so they're kinda phucked there. They didnt do themselves any favors when they cancelled my back order of 2 yrs. Just when it was ready to ship. Maybe had something to do with price jumping from $39 to $240...hmmmmmmmm, nah. Just my imagination, carry on.

As for any weather stripping i always tuck in the corners and ends first, then i tuck in the center between two corners making sure i have an even amount of material on each side. Then just keep repeating that process without pulling as i tuck in the weather strip. Cause as mentioned, you'll stretch the material that way.

Mine fit that ways as well. I massaged it forward but it's not a great fit. Not only that, it's extremely loud when driving. I ordered original GM weatherstripping and it fit perfectly.
