12" wilwood front brakes

I know wilwood says that they're 10.75" brake package will fit stock spindles with a little modification. But has anybody managed to modify a stock spindle to accept one of the 12.19" setups. I contacted wilwood to try and figure out what mounting dimensions are different between the two kits but the tech seemed to know less about the products then I did and could only tell me that the smaller kit would fit and not the real difference between the two.

i believe ed miller has a setup like that

yes his webpage lists a kit for fitting what looks to be that package under GTA rims, but I'm assuming that there are different mounts and spacers used to accomplish that. Since I'm going to run a 17" rim I'm not sure that kit would be the best choice. Also not so be a cheap jerk but I can purchase the wilwood stuff from summit for half what eb is selling that kit for. So I'm guessing there is something special about it to make it sit behind GTA rims to account for the price difference since all of ebs other stuff is very reasonably priced

Re: 12" wilwood front brakes

there is more to the kit than caliper and rotors, most of ed kits are a complete bolt on deal, spindle, brackets, lines, everything AFAIK. and the GTA wheels are a bit weird, i think the spokes turn inward causing clearance issues, so there must be some ingenuity going on there.

right I know that eb miller offers a bolt in kit, but I have extra spindles and access to the tools necessary to modify them

Then use spindles, calipers, rotors, hubs of your choice and just ask him about a caliper bracket. He used to sell just the adapter brackets, I assume he still would. I bought a pair of his brackets for my original c5 swap for ~$90.

If you're going to run a 17" wheel you could try the brembo setup he's been working on. (the brembos off of a cts-v).

There are pictures on the last couple pages showing user Dewey316 mounting the ctsv brembos under his 17" c5 wagon wheels using c6 13.4" rotors.

Re: 12" wilwood front brakes

I have eds willwood kit. It is a good value

I also have 2 other c5/ LS1 type kits

All kits came with long arp studs, brake lines, bolts drilled for safety wire, new bearings, new hubs cut from new rotors, etc. AND IT WORKED as ADVERTISED.

I would buy from ed and get a solution rather than buy from other and receive pieces.

I have bought too many items that were new and needed to be modified to work. No savings at all.

I am calling ed to make me another kit to replace my baer setup.

I agree, Ed is good. He was very willing to work with me, on making a kit that I am the first to have on. He is busy, so sometimes shipping can be a little slow, but he will make things right by you.

And his GTA kit is more expensive, but you have to look at what you get. You get some NICE NICE NICE coleman 2 peice rotors (retail from coleman is well over $300 for them), plus everything you need. You can go cheap, or you can go quality. There is more to a brake system then just the name on the caliper.

Guys, Ed Millers GTA Wilwood kit is fantastic. They are the biggest and best brakes you can fit under the stock GTA rims. They are much better in so many ways than the C4/LS1 kits for example. If you are going for 17/18inch or bigger aftermarket wheels then their are better brakes you can fit, but believe me, buy them from Ed's selection of kits or get him to custom make something to your requirements.
