Backing plate part numbers https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...3414486c7.jpeg i did some looking for part numbers for the backing plate for the PBR / 1LE rear brake backing plates and I can't seem to find the number. I'm hoping they are still available new. I am gathering parts for my Dana 44 swap and I want to get another set of these backing plates so I can assemble the whole rear and before pulling my car apart and not have to rob any parts off the original rear end. |
Re: Backing plate part numbers Dude. They've been unavailable for a LONG time. Gotta remember GM stopped using the stamped plates in 1993. I bought a pair at the dealer in the early 2000's, and even then most of the 1LE and thirdgen specific stuff was already gone. Seem to remember that one side only had a couple showing left in the country on the GM computer. I never got around to using them, so they're tucked away in a box with an NOS pair of the wire e-brake cable guides. Like a lot of things, they'll probably get sold eventually for an obscene price fitting for an NOS part. Rare! 1LE! Factory race car! LOL |
Re: Backing plate part numbers Hawks makes the backing plates |

Re: Backing plate part numbers My plan was 1 find part numbers 2 search eBay every 20 min until I find them 😂😂 either new or used is fine with me. I can glass bead and zinc coat a set at my shop. and ugly dirty set wouldn't bother me at all. |
Re: Backing plate part numbers James, been prepping to swap PBR calipers onto my 9 bolt with iron calipers for my 91 RS. Been referencing that thread a lot, thanks for sharing. Sourcing everything from autozone and the other links in that thread, I tally up to just over $400 for the upgrade. Looks like I'll have to cough up for the Hawk's backing plates - is flynbye still in business? Reading around it looks like its a risk to purchase anything from them. Anyone know a place to get them cheaper than $90 ?? Only question I have is it looks like there are some tiny brackets/hardware in his picture for the 9 bolt backing plates that do not appear to come in the Hawk's kit. Do we know if those are required? See http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i31.html I'm talking about the little brackets on the lower left of the picture. For the dual 90-92 ebrake cables, is the ACDELCO cable x 2 the cable to get ? Will these plug right in to my 91 RS originally equipped for drums? Thanks all ! |
Re: Backing plate part numbers The small brackets are for the brake hose mounting to the axle housing. Flynbye doesn't include them either, even though they're in the picture. Flynbye isn't fast, but if you're very patient, they come thru... Just don't expect a typical 2018 online buying experience. Plan on hearing nothing for a week or two, after you get a tracking number/ship notice, don't expect it to actually ship for another week or two. If the order is wrong, for any reason, don't expect anyone to reply to your email. I'd still order from Flynbye before Hawks, but that's just me... |
Re: Backing plate part numbers Still have them tucked away? What's the obscene price? Lol I want them if possible. |
