WTB Hardtop Camaro

82-92, Hard top, trim/engine/trans does not matter as I plan to turn it into a street/Trackday car. preferably rust free.
I'm in Windsor Ontario, so I'm close to Detroit/Windsor border.
LMK!

Have you noticed that most 3rd gens for sale that are halfway decent seem to be either in Toronto or Ottawa (or in between)? Drove me nuts when I was shopping. I did drive to Ottawa once myself, car wasn’t as advertised and seller wouldn’t negotiate a single penny. Lucky to find my car within an hours drive.

Good luck on the search/project.

Which is odd, because I would pay that gladly for something from down South, Kentucky, Texas, Georgia, wherever they don't use Salt.
Where are you from?

Yeah rust can be an issue but (no BS) garaged-winters is pretty common. Maintain your kijiji sweep
https://www.kijiji.ca/b-ontario/cama...sort=priceDesc

+ fill in with trader
e.g. http://www.autotrader.ca/result/AdDe...frnID=10524140

and you'll have lots of potentials with those parameters.

No kidding, eh?. I window shopped state side a lot. I figured min 30% adder, as much as 40%, when exchange, out of province inspection, A/C tax, shipping, costs to drive/fly to view the car first just made it too much. If a $10k USD car costs me $14k CAN that's a problem.

I'm just 'down the street' from ya in London. I have a bud that lives in Maidstone, maybe I'll see ya cruisin this summer. :burnout:

Depends on the car, I've looked a few down there, 40-60% cheaper than here, and in way nicer shape.

My Charger for instance was a southern car, that had been brought to Michigan, all in, with exchange it cost me $2600 for the chassis, which judging by how Mopars have gone insane as of late, is not horrible.

Re: WTB Hardtop Camaro

I could see there being good deals but finding the rust free stuff gets harder the farther north one is. I could also see projects/chassis/parts being a great deal. I was only looking for a complete original car which made it harder. I'd love to have bought a southern car but I lacked time to shop locally let alone diving to Kentucky etc. lol

Ah geez, I have hijacked your thread, sorry about that.

Re: WTB Hardtop Camaro

You should look for an 82-87 so if you did get the itch to street the thing you could without having to deal with Ontario emissions. Look down south, I can't tell you how many cars I looked at in Essex county that were "really clean cars" to get there and see the carpet hanging out of the driver and passenger floor boards. I have seen quite a few clean third gens in boneyards in Nashville, TN over the years that people up north would have loved to have, and that's only around 8 hours from you. Also, clean ones a lot of times go for nothing out in Southern California because their insane emissions forces them off the roads. You could likely use an Escrow service to purchase something out there for not a lot and get it inspected, factor in $1000-$1500 for shipping to MI.

I may have what you need. Zero rust 91 hardtop. 305/auto. Has a load of suspension work plus a 4th gen 3:42 posi disk rear and UMI watts link to go with it. I was going to build the car like you want too.
