Power Acoustick Subs?

How are they??? Anyone ever heard them?

StevenK 12-24-2003 01:08 AM

work great for 3 months.

don't waste your money

the mofo line of subs is supposed to be fairly good for SPL applications

I just got a complete PA setup. I have the FUBR 12's. They're pretty decent subs. Definately better then anything i've heard at best buy! The ****ty thing is that 1 of them is already bad(check the post on this board). The one that works definatley handles the power. I have it run at 1 ohm to an amp that supposedly puts out 1800 watts @ 1. This is the subs max rating and it plays well. My parents ONLY spent about $550 on everything, so i think that it's definatley worth the cash. We'll see if they last!

You can really blame pa for your one sub being bad after what you did to it though.

84'fxrupr 12-24-2003 09:42 PM

What brobert?
If you meant to say that i cant blame them, then i can.
I wired it to 4 ohms first, that would be 1200 watts. Then i wired it to 1 ohm, thats 1800. After that i wired both subs down to 1/2 thats 900 each. I then did the same thing with the other sub. One sub plays well, (i've had them 1 day and already got warned) but the other came messed up. The good sub takes the 1800 great. What i thought was massive distortion while it was loud was actually my spoiler rattling! I am happy so far, just not with the one sub.

br()bert 12-24-2003 11:42 PM

I dont know about others on here but every amp ive ever had got more powerful the lower the imp/ohms. 1200 watts in 4 ohms but only 900 in 1/2? And its really not a good idea to put 1800 watts through a sub not seccured into a box, esp while playing a bass cd of all things! If you think that what you did could not damage a sub tell the place you bought it from that you did this and see if they will replace the sub! :doh:

Your arguement seems blurry to me. As long as he wasnt exceeding the manufacturer's peak wattage of 1800 watts, they should be returnable.

br()bert 12-25-2003 11:27 AM

max wattage not seccured into a box with a bass cd is not good. Im sure they'll take it back, as long as they dont know what was done to it.

PA makes decent equipment for what you pay, There amps are overatted, and most likely there subs are too, but if the system is all PA then you shouldnt have much of a problem, since they are all overrated.
like i said, the equipment is decent, nothing great, but for the price i would consider running there equipment. Definately a fair buy. There might be better out there for the money, it just depends on how much you are willing to spend.

Actually, I heard they underate their stuff. I met 1 guy in town who ran his 15" fubr at 4000 in a ported enclosure. Brobert... give it up. Quit trying to argue. I installed the D@mn thing i know a little bit about how they work. The only way it wires into 1/2 and ohm is when two subs are wired in pararrel with the DVCs in parralel. This means two subs playing off of a 1800 watt amp. Now you do the math 1800 devided by 2 equals 900. Have i lost you yet? The sub that i have been playing under the cd's and without being screwed in is fine. I screwed it in yesterday and the difference is that it seems to play a little louder without distorting. The broken sub has been played for probably less than 5 minutes. I heard the noise and unhooked it. The other one has(is) done well through all of this. 3.1RS i think that ther are decent stuff. If you go to best buy and get camparable rockford stuff it will cost more, and IMO PA sounds better.

br()bert 12-26-2003 11:57 AM

Like i said if you think you did nothing wrong then take the sub back and tell them you put 1800 watts through it with a bass cd not screwed into a box of any kind. Im not arguing at all. good luck
