moded 4x6's driver side?

kk well i got some new 4x6's i already know they wouldn't fit that i would need to do some work to make them fit , does any one havea pic of there cut out area on the driver side area were the 4x6 sits , i plan on using a dremel's little saw thing to go down to cut out the area but wondering if any wires are right under that spoti dont plan on putting the blade all the way threw just enough to be able to get it off

you shouldnt need to cut. use a heat gun and a rounded stick the size of a broom handle. heat the plastic under the magnet and then push it down with the stick. this way your vents still work.

On an 89 camaro, you shouldn't need to do anything. I was able to fit my Boston 746 plates into my camaro dash with absolutely no modifications, and as far as I know, there's not another 4x6 on the planet with a bigger magnet assembly. On 90-2 camaros, they have a different dash arrangement and that's another story.

well my infinity refrence 6412cf's dont fit =) thats why i am asking it sits about 4cm to high to get the screws into

hmm.. I wonder if the heat gun / broom handle would work on a '90 Firebird.. i have some decent 4x6s on hand I couldn't get installed..

I have a pair of JBLs that fit tight without having to mod the car- I wish I remember the model numbers. But yeah, I agree with the heat gun and something to shape the plastic.

You guys must live in an alternate universe or something. I’ve never had issues fitting 4x6’s in a firebird (well I think I had one set that I had to trim out part of the grille, but not a problem with the mounting), and I’ve seen camaros swallow 6-1/2”s in the front with a little motivation…

Hehe.. I've put 4x6s into a 86 Camaro before.. Right now I have a 90 Firebird and I bought some PYLE 4x6 3ways in that have a big magnet on the bottom- they fit on the pass side just fine but on the driver's side - it needs about another inch - it hits the white plastic gauge housing.

Yes, the tight fit definitly exists. When I was shopping around, there were many speakers that had a measured depth greater than the dash clearance. I settled on a pair of Pioneers that fit similar to mentioned above. OK on the right side, very tight but worked on the left.

i have a pair of pioneers in there now , i tried taking it back out and put in the new ones again they still dont fit they sit up | | sabout that much just enough its hitting the dash pad which it could be forced down , waiting for a non snow week end =\
