Factory bose speakers blown

I have an 86TA with factory bose sound system. I hear a crackling sound when the songs are playing. And the cassette deck doesn't play the tapes anymore(Guess the motor is shot). I have my mp3 hooked up to an fm transmitter at the moment. When i play songs on there its decent but the signal will cut in and out so i can't go by that. When i run the fm stereo It's not that bad only when the song is bassy or it's surround and transferring from the back to the front. Idk which rear speakers are blown yet,or sub, but something is blown. What would guys suggest? Oh,background info is my dad was previous owner. Car sat in garage for 13 years without being started. Thanks in advanced.

P.S. here is a sound recording from when we first started the car up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOhjbtO6TNE

Sounds more like the cones are cracked. Bose speakers take longer than delco speakers to crack, but they still do it. Depending on how much you want to spend, there are a couple of routes you can go. If it is the sub (they had a built in sub?), you can just disconnect it. If it is the speakers, you can replace them. You can go with premium speakers (Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc), or "factory replacement" speakers. The "factory replacement" speakers are almost always cheaper, but they are cheaper made.

Just my opinion.

Its an optional sub. It has the gain button and everything. I would spend the extra cash to get a decent set. I like listening to music in the car. The only thing i'm skeptical about is if they would fit on the stock plugs and if they would work with the factory amp. (I dont know how to do electrical wiring.)

The subwoofer setup with the gain isn't the Bose system.

Read that if you want to know more information on your sound system.

Most people remove the small subs and 4" for a set of 6x9s.
