Mounting headunit in center a/c vents? Anyone do this and make it a clean install? Im deleating the a/c and heat in the car so that wont be an issue and down the road will be putting in a 2000+ center console but the part about that that has always bugged me is that most people say you need to use a firebird radio pod for it to look "ok". I never like that. Why not just move the head unit to the ac vents and toss the ac contols - easy pezzy, right? |
Re: Mounting headunit in center a/c vents? If you don't get the firebird radio pod nothing will be there to fill the space between the console and the dash. |
Re: Mounting headunit in center a/c vents? the dash vent stereo mount has been done, but it never looks right. ive toyed with the idea of mounting my stereo under the vents, or beside them just because the stereo is in a horrible spot from the factory (even worse if you have a manual like me). theres no way in hell id ditch my ac or heat, so using the actual vent location is out of the question for me. |

Regardless of where you put the radio, without the Firebird pod you will have to fab something up if you want the 4th gen console to look right without using the Firebird pod. |
