OEM Delco radio/cassette Reman

Anyone looking to keep their original Delco radio/cassette I would highly recommend M&R Electronics as others have suggested for a complete reman/tuneup..I have a model16040862 and the tape player didn't work, there were some lights out and the radio wouldn't power on..I sent it to them in Saginaw, MI from the Seattle area and the cost was $175.00 + 15.00(shipping)= $190.00. I got it back 4 days after they received it. Scott is the technician that worked on it and replaced the cassette belt and cln mechanism, Audio/Logic caps, backlighting and soldered all boards.. Works like new. I get that its an old sound system and the sound is by far inferior but there is nothing in my 1986 T/A thats not original..I'm happy and just wanted to give a shout out to M&R..

Those are really good stereo units I think. And well worth the cost to keep it original. Kind of surprised that there is anyone that can work on these too.

The best part of keeping the head unit is all the dash lights/instrument lights all match and there are no mods or fabrication for a new install. I love the retro red. If you're looking for a performance stereo we all know there is incredible systems out there. For me, I get a kick out of listening to my old cassette collection from the 70's and 80's..Old school I guess...

I've used M&R before.
Both my 91 TA Vert and my 94 TA Vert came with AM/FM/Cassette/EQ.
I have no Casettes but loads of CDs, so I replaced both of them with Pontiac correct AM/FM/CD/EQ units to keep both cars as original as possible.
Added iSimple Bluetooth FM systems for hands free calling and music streaming to both radios.

I had an AUX jack installed in my GTA's radio by M&R. Very happy with it. I like being all-original, even though the sound isn't going to be as good as a good aftermarket system. But really those old speakers sound okay. I'm really not that demanding and have no interest in having bass that people within half a mile of the car can hear thumping.

Mine doesn't look as clean as the picture above. Apparently with the GTA radio with the 5-band equalizer that works wit the steering wheel controls, they couldn't put a nice, neat jack into the front of the radio. I talked to them and he explained something about how that unit was constructed. I have a pigtail wire that comes out the back of my radio. It sits on the passenger seat or footwell. I've never gotten around to it, but I've always planned on trying to thread it into the console to conceal it.

I spoke with Scott @ M&R this week; the cost to repair a GTA receiver is now up to $200. This is a common problem with the GTA type receivers,.. radio will power up, but FM output. The $200 is JUST for the Receiver itself to be repaired,... NO other parts/repair.

*(For the record,... I called sales in advance to ask for a repair quote & was quoted $125)
