Is my choke really necessary? 750 DP

I have a holley 750 DP and it definitely doesn't have electric choke. It has the choke tower on it, but i don't think the manual choke is connected to it anywhere. (There would be a lever inside the car right?) When i look at the carb, the driver's side of the carb linkage controls the throttle, the passenger side of the carb controls the choke, but there is no lines or anything connected to the choke. I have been through one cold winter with this car already and as soon as the car warms up ( after a few mins) the car is fine and ready to go. It does take a few cranks to start it up though when its really cold. My question is, if i can live with that, can i just mill the choke tower off and radius in the entries a bit? Would i have to tune the carb after doing this? David Vizard, in his book, says K&N Stub Stack basically does the same thing without having to mill off the choke tower, and at the same time it produces an increase in booster signal, but i just don't have enough room for the K&N Stub Stack. Whoever has done this before, please post results. Thank You.

Sure ya can. Running without a choke is no big deal at all. Once you get the hang of the right-foot starting routine it doesn't even take several cranks to start usually.

all you have to do is pump a few times to start and keep it running till it warms up. i start my car during the winter, on warmer days with no choke.

I have a Proform main body on my 750 Holley. It takes a good 2-3 tries before it'll fire up in the cold then I gotta keep the RPMs at like 2500 for about 30 seconds before it'll idle by itself. Performance wise I gained a little over 1 tenth in the 1/4 mile. When I first installed it I had to do quite a bit of re-tuning because the carb was getting A LOT more air and was very lean.
