Anybody have any experiences (good/bad) with this carb?

I'd say try a search on the product review board, from what I've heard it's the same as a regular holley carb, with a few extras added on, that you can buy for a lot cheaper than the str avenger.

They seem to have more problems for some reason. Stay with normal Holleys.

I went through 2 off the shelf, one had a cracked base out of the box the other had internal problems, this was on the day that I was trying to sell the car. The third one they gave me was ok. I am very skeptical of the quality control on these carbs. I have never had problems like this with any other new Holleys or Edelbrocks.

Ive got one and it runs...for alittle while anyways. I still dont have my fuel pump rigged up right to keep it on. It will prime and thats about it.

I have the 670 and have never had a problem. It took minimal tuning and has never failed. If I were I would go on ebay, because I got mine brand new for 275. You can tell a difference in the springs too.

I think mine is screwed up pretty bad. Its idling at 2500rpm. That cant be good. Its idling that high and dieseling...that may be a timing issue. im having trouble setting base timing because its revving up bad. Think the carb is bad?

Adjust the fast idle cam screw and/or the regular idle screw. Out of the box, mine idled at 2500 rpm until I adjusted it down.

no carb comes perfect out of the box. I think everyone has tu adjust the idle to their setup. What does everyone have their fast idle set to on cold starups?

my 670 is working great. all i did was changed the jets and power valve for 8000ft above sea level. love the secondary spring changing. i get 23 mpg with the fuel economy spring!!

never used a street avenger, but I still talk to my old shop teacher from highschool, he's a gearhead. He bought a 670 thinking it would eliminate the smell of gas he used to get from his car. He also knows that no mater what they tell you, nothing is ready to bolt on right out of the box, but he figured the holley would be more tolerable of imperfect running conditions. He said the 670 gave him better acceleration compared to his old holley 600, but at cruising speeds, it would break up and feel bad, and it didnt help his gas mileage. He called his holley sales rep, and the sales rep told him that he'd need to tune it, arguing that holley tunes the avenger carbs are tuned for stock engines. His 350 has headers and an edelcrock intake. He experimented with different jets, springs, power valves, and other adjustments. Nothing seemed to help. He called the rep back and they agreed to take the carb back and holley would replace it with the 770cfm carb. He said that he thought the 770cfm was too big for his mild 350. The rep said that holley over rates the avenger carbs, and "the 670 is like a 600", and "the 770 is like a 700". I havent caught up with him since he sent the 670 back, so I cant tell you what happened with the 770. Moral of the story is- you're goign to have just as many problems with an avenger carb as any other carb on the market. I'd save my money and get a "normal" 4160 for a hundred bucks less.

Ill try that then. I went ahead and took the other carb back and got another just for safe measure. still does the same thing. I adjusted the idle/mixture screws but it didnt do ****. I went ahead and messed with the timing some but it still didnt help. I have anothe problem now..when testing and tuning my car ALL my tranny fluid leaked out. Almost positive it came from the dipstick. I looked and it and the rubber part came up on it and when i moved the dipstick back and forth it made it way worse.

so far that carb isnt that bad it starts right up with out pumping but i have the super high idle....im hoping the high idle is whats making it run wierd...also kinda feels like its missing and ****.

OOoOOoO thats what those little springs are! where do those go anyways? and which one comes in it.

there is a medium spring in the carb, the one with black paint on the top is for performance and the one with yellow is for gas milage. there is a black housing they go in. it has a street avenger sticker on it. it is on the passenger side by the choke control. just pull the 2 screws and put the other spring in how the old one came out. it takes a little practice. make sure the o-ring goes back in place, there is a little groove it sits in. its pretty easy, but takes more like 2 minutes than the advertised one minute.

still doesnt sound that hard. Im still toying with mine trying to get the idle down. If i retard the timing (4 degrees BTDC) it will idle at 750rpm but as you can imagine the performance sucks.

Pump it up to 6 degrees ATDC and i get crazy 2500rpm idling.

Im gonna turn my fuel pressure way down and see what happens and maybe get some smaller jets. I think the 670 may be a tad to much carb for my motor right now.
