Edelbrock 1221 air cleaner 1 Attachment(s) This probably seems stupid but i've never done this before. I'm replacing my current air cleaner because its not the best, and I have no idea what to do as i am new to working on cars. Attachment 391323 thats the one i have now. i know how to remove it and everything. the new one i have is a 14" chrome one and im not sure what i have to do or what extra parts i need to install it. any help would be great, or maybe some pics |
Re: Edelbrock 1221 air cleaner Take old one off, put new one on, tighten nut onto stud. Stud is a standard 1/4-20 threaded rod - grab one at any hardware store and with a hack saw cut to fit. Screw stud into center hole in carb, then grab it with locking pliers at the bottom (where the air cleaner covers it up) to get it good and tight, put on air cleaner, tighten nut on it. |
Re: Edelbrock 1221 air cleaner in the directions it said something about needing extra parts. the air cleaner also has pre cut holes for some type of valve attachment |
Re: Edelbrock 1221 air cleaner There will be a pre-cut hole for your IAT sensor - but since your now ruinning an aftermarket carb, I doubt you have that anymore. |
I haven't seen pre-cut holes, but have seen punch-out holes if needed. Typically it's to put the PCV fresh filter air hose on (from the factory, the little filter that fits inside the air cleaner with a pipe to the passenger side valve cover). Typically I wouldn't used the hose, and just put a filtered push-in cap in place of the fresh air pipe. |
