Revs great at idle, but bogs in drive wot??

On idle I can rev car full Rpms no problem, when car is in drive if I step on it ,it hesitates BAD. When it hits second gear (automatic) it runs and pulls just fine??
I have noticed that just turning the wheel sometimes at a stop in drive is enough to kill the engine..
It has new fuel pump, filter, cap, wires, rotor, coil. The timing is 6* degrees adv.

Iv checked firing order, the secondaries for adjustment, fuel pressure..
From what I read in other posts it seems like most people have adj secondaries, or clogged cats, or filter, or timing issues! I checked all the points and come up with nothing??

Did you set the timing with the flat 4-wire connector from the base of the distributor disconnected?

Fixed it for you.

Yes the wire was disconnected when timed then plugged in after all set..

Well, that's because you can't... ;)

Since you mentioned it will almost die just turning the steering wheel, that is an indication that this isn't just a WOT problem. But, just in case, let's address the WOT contributors.

- Accelerator pump - with the engine off, air cleaner removed, and holding the choke butterfly open, while looking down the primaries of the carb, you should get a squirt of fuel into each primary venturi while opening the throttle. If not, rebuild the carb.

- Secondary air valve adjustment - how did you go about it? When you open the AV, do you see the secondary rod hanger pulling the rods up?

- Choke pull-off - believe it or not, this is part of the bog-prevention system. It should pull in as soon as you start the engine. They can do that and still be bad, though. Best way to check it is to pull a vacuum on it and hold it - it should stay pulled in. If not, replace it.

Interesting... I didn't do the work..it was done in a shop!! I was told a wire to dist. Was pulled to time ,then reconnected. I (bought) his BS I guess.
I will deff check out what you listed tommorow and let you know.
Thanks for the help!!!

Actually now that I'm thinking about maybe I'll get my tech buddy to double check the timing and stuff see if it was done right. From what I know it is getting fuel squirt To all venturies! As for the AV. That is the small flat head screw threw the linkage of the carb on right side?? And the lock screw on the bottom?

Iv had idle issues in the past maybe 150k good time to rebuild carb anyways. Only owned car few months. Don't know ANYTHING about its past.

Re: Revs great at idle, but bogs in drive wot??

I loosened screw to the AV. Nothing changed, nothing moved, there is tension in the spring cuz it pulls the adjuster screw back. I don't know exactly what's supposed to happen?? I held the screw 1/4 turns while I tightened the bottom lock screw, no change car still bogs!
