Fuel Delivery Issues Hi Guys, My 305 86 Trans Am after with Edelbrock Carb, after sitting for a few days takes about 30 seconds of cranking to get fuel delivered. My question is: 1. Do i have just a mechanical pump at the block or an additional pump in tank as well. 2. I'm actually fine with things and this is not that big of an issue, however as a cheap work aroun I bought an in line flow through style pump that I was planning to mount near the gas tank to help. Good idea or not? Thanks! John |
Re: Fuel Delivery Issues Something isnt right - 30 seconds is a bloody long time... |
Re: Fuel Delivery Issues Sounds like for whatever reason, the carb empties itself while sitting. Fuel lines too: the mech pump is having to suck fuel all the way from one end to the other before there's enough in the carb again for it to run. Most 86 cars had only the mech pump but some had an electric in-tank as well. Wouldn't hurt to find out (look for the wires) and make sure it's working if one is there. |
